Patent number: 5948128Abstract: A device for draining condensate from a steam system while substantially eliminating the passage of steam. The device has flanged inlet and outlet ends and includes a unitary Y-shaped body defining a fluid flow conduit, a filter device disposed within the Y-shaped body, and flanged inlet and outlet body ends configured for corresponding bolted connection with the flanged inlet and outlet ends of the steam system. The device also has an insert housing removably connected within the Y-shaped body and abutting the flanged outlet end of the steam system, and a nozzle structure removably positioned within the insert housing and having a constricted passageway in fluid communication with the fluid flow conduit. The insert housing can only be removed from the Y-shaped body by first disconnecting the Y-shaped body from the steam system, providing added safety for steam system operators.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1996Date of Patent: September 7, 1999Assignee: Engineering Resources, Inc.Inventors: Panos N. Stavropoulos, Paul E. DiNardo

Patent number: 5676719Abstract: A universal insert used with a device to drain condensate from a steam system while minimizing the passage of steam. The insert includes an anchor with tapering threads that can be crushed, permitting the insert to be used with radiator steam traps having differing sizes, and of different models. Nozzle or orifice-type constricted passageways can be located within the anchor. A filter device for use with the anchor has an adjustable height.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1996Date of Patent: October 14, 1997Assignee: Engineering Resources, Inc.Inventors: Constantine N. Stavropoulos, Lianquan Liu, Panos N. Stavropoulos

Patent number: 5467845Abstract: A rope braking device is formed from a steel rod defining a substantially rectangular frame about which a rope may be entwined for the purpose of braking the passage of the rope through the rope braking device for the controlled lowering of an object secured to one end of the rope. The rod may be a single one-piece rod bent into the rectangular frame configuration with the opposite ends of the rod being bent into two upstanding hooks for supporting the rope braking device on a fixed support. When the rope braking device is used for lowering kegs from a truck, a keg hooking device is used which includes a pair of hook members, each having a hook engageable in a rim aperture of a keg and a loop secured to an oval ring adjacent the center of the keg wherein the loop and hook of each hook member are disposed orthagonally to each other.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1994Date of Patent: November 21, 1995Assignee: Engineered Resources, Inc.Inventor: William M. Scruggs

Patent number: 5060686Abstract: A device for draining condensate or the like from steam piping systems while retaining the live steam within the steam piping system, which comprises a body structure having an entrance end, an exit end, and an internal cylindrical bore to permit fluid to flow into the entrance end and out of the exit end; and a nozzle structure removeably mounted within the cylindrical bore formed of a plurality of mutually separable, partially cylindrical insert segments which combine to form the nozzle and define a constricted passageway.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1989Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Assignee: Engineering Resources, Inc.Inventor: Michael Troy

Patent number: 4592381Abstract: A condensate drainage device for a steam system which includes a series-connected arrangement of orifice-type devices particularly suitable for relatively small condensate drainage capacity. The orifice-type devices are selected for installation in housings or bodies having advantageously placed heat exchanger fins which cooperate with the size of orifice devices installed for desired condensate drainage over a range of different steam system pressure and volumetric capacities requirements.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1984Date of Patent: June 3, 1986Assignee: Engineering Resources, Inc.Inventor: Michael Troy

Patent number: 4541456Abstract: A valve assembly mountable in a debris strainer device installed in a steam piping system. The valve assembly includes a retractile valve stem cooperating with a conduit branch of the strainer device to form a short clearance chamber which restricts the amount of fluid which can collect in the chamber when the valve is closed. The valve stem is retractable initially to allow for substantially constant bleeding of discharge effluent prior to full retraction of the valve stem to fully open the valve for achieving "blow-off" or the blast of particulate discharge through the valve.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1984Date of Patent: September 17, 1985Assignee: Engineering Resources, Inc.Inventor: Michael Troy

Patent number: 4486208Abstract: A flow constriction device, typically for drainage of steam condensate, is provided with a tubular nozzle structure inserted within a bore formed in the body of the device. The insertable tubular nozzle structure provides convenient variation in flow constriction dimensions which can be employed with a generally standardized bore dimension.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1983Date of Patent: December 4, 1984Assignee: Engineering Resources, Inc.Inventor: Constantine N. Stavropoulos
