  • Patent number: 7977614
Abstract: An interception system for intercepting incoming missiles and/or rockets including a launch facility, a missile configured to be launched by the launch facility, the missile having a fragmentation warhead, a ground-based missile guidance system for guiding the missile during at least one early stage of missile flight and a missile-based guidance system for guiding the missile during at least one later stage of missile flight, the missile-based guidance system being operative to direct the missile in a last stage of missile flight in a head-on direction vis-a-vis an incoming missile or rocket.

  • Patent number: 5938700
Abstract: A joint prosthesis for replacing a joint between two elongated bones of the hand. A first member is provided with an elongated stem for reception in one of the elongated bones and includes a head remote from the stem, the head having a central arcuate dovetail rib arising from a spheroidal convex articulating surface. A second member has a stem for reception in the other bone and a base remote from the stem, the base having a central arcuate dovetail slot formed in a spheroidal concave surface shaped to articulate with the convex articular surface. The central arcuate dovetail rib of the first member and arcuate dovetail slot of the second member are assembled to fully engage and articulate with each other to restrain separation of the members at all degrees of flexion ranging from 0 degrees extension through to 110 degrees of flexion, the force between the members being borne primarily by said spheroidal articular surfaces throughout the range of motion.

  • Patent number: 4756220
Abstract: An improvement is set forth in a sawing apparatus having a table supporting a workpiece, a fence for guiding the workpiece and an operator moveable electrically operated saw having a first normally biased off switch controlling application of electric power to the apparatus, the switch being positioned to be controlled by the hand of an operator which controls movement of the saw. The improvement comprises a second normally biased off switch connected in series with the first normally biased off switch, the second switch being mounted adjacent to the fence a sufficient distance from the saw blade to prevent the saw blade from contacting the operator's off hand when the off hand is activating the second switch and in a position whereat the off hand can, simultaneously with activating the second switch, adjust the position of the workpiece along the fence.

  • Patent number: 4637288
Abstract: An improvement is set forth in a sawing apparatus having a workpiece support structure and an operator moveable electrically operated saw having a first normally biased off switch controlling application of electric power thereto, the switch being positioned to be controlled by the hand of an operator which controls movement of the saw. The improvement comprises a device adapted for gripping, positioning and clamping a workpiece relative to the workpiece support structure and a second normally biased off switch connected in series with the first normally biased off switch, the second switch being positioned to be controlled by the off hand of the operator while the off hand is utilizing the device. Since both hands of an operator must be holding onto normally off switches and since both switches are in positions removed from the area of movement of the saw blade, the operator is protected from accidently cutting himself.
