    Abstract: A robotic system which includes a fluid controller, an arm portion, and a soft end effector apparatus coupled with the fluid controller and the arm portion. The soft end effector apparatus includes a base constructed and arranged to mount to the arm portion, a set of wrist assemblies coupled with the base, and a set of finger assemblies coupled with the set of wrist assemblies. Each wrist assembly of the set of wrist assemblies (i) couples with a respective finger assembly and (ii) provides movement to that respective finger assembly relative to the base during actuation of that wrist assembly and during independent actuation of that respective finger assembly in response to control from the fluid controller. Along these lines, the fluid controller may individually provide pressurized fluid to each wrist assembly and each finger assembly when controlling interaction between the soft end effector apparatus and an external object.

    Abstract: In a urea synthesis process, temperature distribution in a submerged condenser is reduced. The process includes: synthesizing urea from NH3 and CO2 to generate a urea synthesis solution; by heating the solution, decomposing ammonium carbamate and separating a gaseous mixture containing NH3 and CO2 from the solution to obtain a solution higher in urea concentration than the solution obtained in the synthesizing; with use of a submerged condenser including a shell and tube heat exchange structure including a U-tube, absorbing and condensing at least a part of the gaseous mixture in an absorption medium on a shell side, and generating steam on a tube side with use of heat generated during the condensation; and recycling at least a part of liquid, obtained from the shell side, to the synthesizing, wherein water is supplied to the tube side of the condenser at a mass flow rate that is three times or more of the steam generation rate.

Silicon carbide deposition upon a silicon carbide domed growth surface allows for the modulation of the supersaturation ratio under a single set of growth conditions.

    Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus for curing composites out-of-autoclave and out-of-oven. The apparatus is a multilayered composite tool for shaping and curing composites. It also contains a sealant layer and composite resistive heating element on the tool's surface. This heating element provides heat to the composites during cure while binding it to the other layers, eliminating the need for external heat from autoclave and oven sources. A ceramic layer is applied to the top surface of the resistive heater for electrical insulation, heater protection and to provide a smooth surface for finish for the composite components being processed with the invention. A method for using the invention is also described. Finally, one embodiment of the invention is presented where a negative composite tool is created to apply additional pressure to the composite component during curing. This additional pressure enables the current invention to more closely mimic autoclave composite processing.
