Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel human-derived cell permeable peptide-bioactive peptide conjugate and the use thereof. According to the present invention, cationic cell permeable peptides derived from human bone morphogenetic protein-4 have no toxicity and immunogenicity and thus exhibit high stability as compared to viral peptide delivery vehicles, and can transport cell impermeable material into cells and into an organism without any damage to cell or material, thereby significantly increasing target gene expression. In addition, the peptide may be applied to clinical use without having to undergo a large number of processes and mass-produced, such that the present invention may be useful in the development of a drug delivery system and treatment technologies using said peptide.

Abstract: A method for contamination detection in a time-of-flight (TOF) range imaging system is described, wherein the TOF range imaging system receives light reflected from a scene, through an optical interface, on an imager sensor having an array of pixels, and wherein distance information and amplitude information are determined for the sensor pixels. The presence of contamination on the optical interface is determined on the basis of amplitude information determined for the sensor pixels.

Abstract: A unitary hand-held, single-use liquid dispenser and applicator is disclosed. A squeezable handle also serves as a reservoir for liquid. A non-forming thermoplastic film seals liquid within the reservoir. Novel weaknesses in the film can be broken on demand to create an opening for liquid to freely flow onto an absorbent pad. A user can thus dispense and apply the liquid without ever touching the liquid or the surface with his hands.
Abstract: A calibration device provides a lightweight rigid support for a long arm. The rigid support includes thin flat sheets separated by a light weight filler. The filler prevents wrinkling or rippling of the flat sheets. Three ball trihedral nest kinematic mounts may be attached to opposite ends of the long arm for precise mounting of retro-reflectors for optical calibration, or precision spheres may be attached to the opposite ends of the long tube to obtain a mechanical calibration standard.

Abstract: A process for hydrotreating a naphtha fraction that includes a step of estimating the difference between the naphtha fraction hydrotreating reactor outlet temperature and inlet temperature, based on the reaction temperature of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction and the ratio of the flow rate of the treated naphtha fraction returned to the naphtha fraction hydrotreating step relative to the flow rate of the treated naphtha fraction discharged from the naphtha fraction hydrotreating step, a step of measuring the difference between the naphtha fraction hydrotreating reactor outlet temperature and inlet temperature, and a step of adjusting the reaction temperature of the naphtha fraction hydrotreating step so that the measured difference between the naphtha fraction hydrotreating reactor outlet temperature and inlet temperature becomes substantially equal to the estimated difference between the naphtha fraction hydrotreating reactor outlet temperature and inlet temperature.

Abstract: A vehicle service or inspection system including a load roller for applying a radial load to a vehicle wheel assembly consisting of a tire mounted to a rim, with at least one sensor for acquiring measurements of acoustical energy generated by the wheel assembly during loaded rotational movement. The vehicle service or inspection system is configured with a programmed processor to evaluate the acquired measurements to provide a measure of tire road noise, identification of tire defects, and/or identification of sources of noise, vibrations, or acoustical energy on the tire surface such as tire flat spots, cupping, bubbles, embedded foreign objects, or other defects. The processor is further configured with software instructions to utilize the acquired measurements to provide a consumer with a figure of merit associated with the acoustics of the tire undergoing testing.

Abstract: In an electrically actuated friction brake (1) with non-linear force-travel characteristic, in which, in order to brake, an actuating part of a pressing device (10) is rotated by means of an actuating device (20) between an initial actuating angle (?A) and a final actuating angle (?E) in order to press a brake lining (6) against a friction surface to produce a braking torque (TB), the effect of the brake lining elasticity, which varies with wear, cannot be ignored. The force-travel characteristic of the friction brake (1) which changes as a result is compensated for in that the initial actuating angle (?A) of the actuating part of the friction brake (1) is adjusted as a function of the current state of wear of the brake lining (6).

Abstract: An energy absorption (EA) pad mountable on a vehicle door interior trim panel provides controlled collapse under side impact collision forces to minimize contact between the door and a vehicle passenger. The EA pad is in the form of a hollow body having an endwall, a sidewall, and an open end. A flange extends laterally from the open end. One or more slots and one or more ribs can be formed in the sidewall or the endwall of varying height, numbers, spacing, thickness, and shapes to provide the controlled collapse of the EA pad. A restraining rib structure is formed on the door trim panel adjacent to a least one side of the EA pad. In another aspect, a door trim panel includes the EA pad.

Abstract: On a surface of a film base material (22), an antireflection structure configured by nano-sized optical projections (23) to suppress reflection of light and protective pillars (24) to prevent the optical projections (23) from being flattened out are arranged. The protective pillar (24) has a truncated cone shape. When a diameter of the protective pillar (24) at a proximal end thereof, a height of the protective pillar (24), and an angle between a side surface of the protective pillar (24) and a central axis of the protective pillar (24) on a section passing through the central axis of the protective pillar (24) are given by D, H, and ?, respectively, these values satisfy a relationship: D>2H×tan(2?).
Abstract: A variable lumbar support including a frame and a support extending between an upper end and a lower end wherein the support bracket includes a first longitudinal direction. A pad having a first surface is provided within the assembly. The first surface of the pad contacts the lumbar portion of the seat assembly. The pad is positioned between the lumbar portion and the seat back cushion. Upon a sliding movement of the lumbar member along the support while in contact with the pad, a curved surface of the pad is displaced in the first longitudinal direction and a second direction normal to the first direction. As the lumbar member contacts the curved areas of the pad, the foam is displaced and pushed towards (a bulge) the seat back cushion so that the user of the vehicle seat feels a fore-and-aft movement of the lumbar member.
