  • Patent number: 6664666
Abstract: A motor allowing multiple degrees of output freedom is disclosed. The motor includes a stator having an interior surface forming at least a portion of a sphere or curved surface and first and second substantially orthogonally positioned stator coils wound on the interior surface. A rotor is fixed to an output shaft and movably supported adjacent the stator with an air gap disposed between the rotor and the stator. The rotor includes a plurality of magnets disposed thereon and is movable along the interior surface in directions defining at least first and second degrees of freedom. Upon energization of the first stator coil, a first magnetic field is established to force at least a first one of the magnets and the rotor in a direction in the first degree of freedom. Upon energization of the second stator coil, a second magnetic field is established to force at least a second one of the magnets and the rotor in a direction in the second degree of freedom.

  • Patent number: 6662832
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for filling one or more containers with flowable material such as cereals, grain or rice. Flowable material is transferred via a material guide into filling stations. The material guide or the filling stations can be moved between a first position in which all the flowable material input is guided into the first container, and a second position in which all the flowable material input is guided into the second container. At intermediate positions between the first and second positions, the flowable material input is divided between the first and second containers. The proportion of flowable material entering each of the containers is varied to enable a nearly full container to be topped up to the desired level while maintaining control over the flow and at the same time rapidly filling another container. The filling stations, at which the containers are located, may be positioned in various configurations.

  • Patent number: 6663089
Abstract: A fluid pressure cylinder with pressure intensifying function, has an oil-filled hydraulic pressure cylinder which is filled with oil and tightly sealed. A gas-filled gas spring is charged with gas and tightly sealed. By means of gas spring, oil in oil chamber of hydraulic pressure cylinder is pressurized to a pressure level higher than the gas pressure in gas actuating chamber of gas spring. This results in a strong pushing force being generated via output piston of hydraulic pressure cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20030228761
Abstract: This invention provides a method for producing semiconductor nanoparticles having a monodispersed distribution of particle sizes and the semiconductor nanoparticles produced by the same, which were insufficient in conventional reversed micelle methods. This method for producing semiconductor nanoparticles comprises steps of: forming semiconductor nanoparticles in the reaction field in the micelle or in the reversed micelle; and regulating the particle size of the semiconductor nanoparticles by size-selective photoetching, wherein the reaction field in the micelle or in the reversed micelle serves also as the dissolution field for ions that are produced when the semiconductor nanoparticles are subjected to size-selective photoetching. In this method, particle sizes of the semiconductor nanoparticles are regulated by adjusting the size of the dissolution field for ions and regulating the reactivity of size-selective photoetching.

  • Publication number: 20030227207
Abstract: Continuous seat adjustment apparatus is used in conjunction with a seating device including a track assembly having an inner track and an outer track longitudinally movable on the inner track. The apparatus includes a pair of opposed jaws mounted on the outer track for pivotal movement between first and second orientations. Each of the jaws defines an opening with the inner track longitudinally extending therethrough. The jaws frictionally engage the inner track in the first orientation to substantially prevent longitudinal movement along the inner track and the jaws release the inner track in the second orientation to allow continuous longitudinal movement along the inner track. A spring device is affixed to the pair of opposed jaws to provide a bias on the jaws tending to move the jaws into the first orientation and an adjustment member is provided for moving the jaws against the spring bias from the first orientation to the second orientation.

  • Patent number: 6659853
Abstract: A method of stuffing natural casings with emulsion involves slidably mounting a collar element on the stuffing tube of the machine adjacent an end of the stuffing tube opposite to the discharge end thereof. The collar is slidably advanced towards the discharge end of the tube to telescope the casing into a shirred condition while leaving a non-shirred portion downstream thereof. The non-shirred portion of the casing is progressively advanced while the casing is filled with emulsion from the tube. A sensor is placed in the proximity of the non-shirred portion of the casing to detect whether shirred or non-shirred casing is present. The sensor is connected to a controller so that the collar will be advanced to slide the casing material on the tube when the non-shirred casing is detected, and the advance of the collar is stopped when shirred casing material is detected. A machine includes the foregoing components to accomplish the method.

  • Patent number: 6662124
Abstract: The relay system obtains voltage and current values from a power line and uses a first sampling element to sample the voltage and current values at selected intervals of time. The resulting sampled signals are used for power system-wide protection, control, monitoring and metering. The sampled signals are then resampled at a rate which is a selected multiple of the power system frequency. The results of the resampling are used by processing circuitry for protection functions including fault determinations.
