  • Patent number: 6010019
Abstract: A gantry lift includes one or more pairs of vertically extendible lift columns and one or more horizontal lift beams supported across the upper ends of the lift columns. The lift beams are supported on header plates that permit slight pivoting or rocking motion between the lift beams and the lift columns. This helps counteract potentially destructive twisting or other forces that can result as the gantry operates and slight misalignments unavoidably occur. A half bearing between the header plate and the upper end of the lift column supports the weight of the lift beam and load and provides the desired pivoting action. The header plate and half bearing are secured to the top of the lift column by means of a full bearing positioned within the half bearing and secured to the lift column by a bolt or other fastener. Both the half bearing and the full bearing pivot around a common center.

  • Patent number: 6011589
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to improve visual picture quality. A picture signal is divided into a plurality of macro blocks and coding is conducted in macro block units. The coding is conducted including quantization process by a quantization portion. A motion compensation portion outputs the quantity of motion, L, in macro block units. An average quantity of motion, L.sub.ave, of a reference picture stored in a frame memory is outputted from a division portion. A control portion compares the quantity of motion L with two reference values relative to the average quantity of motion L.sub.ave and makes a correction to lower the quantization step in the quantization portion for macro blocks whose quantity of motion L is between the reference values. Accordingly, picture quality is improved in part of picture where motion is small and deterioration of visual picture quality is noticeable.

  • Patent number: 6010329
Abstract: A jet pump for a heat gun includes an elongate hollow pump body lying along a longitudinal axis. The pump body has an inlet, a mixing section and an outlet. A nozzle unit is axially aligned with the inlet for directing pressurized fuel into the inlet of the pump body. Movement of the pressurized fuel into the inlet causes air to be drawn into the inlet to mix with the fuel within the pump body. A disk shaped air diverter is axially spaced away from the inlet of the pump body. The diverter has a length and a diameter. The diameter of the diverter is greater than the length of the diverter and larger than the inlet of the pump body. A housing is radially spaced from and surrounds the diverter forming a first annular gap therearound for air outside the housing to pass therethrough. The air moves around the diverter then changes direction between the diverter and the inlet of the pump body before entering the inlet.

  • Patent number: 6009016
Abstract: A nonvolatile semiconductor memory recovers variation in the threshold of a memory cell due to disturbance related to a word line. The nonvolatile memory continuously performs many writing operations without carrying out single-sector erasing after each writing operation, performing the additional writing operations quicker than the usual writing operation, and lightening the burden imposed on software for use in additional writing. The data stored in a designated sector is read out before being saved in a register, and the selected sector is subjected to single-sector erasing when a predetermined command is given. Then write expected value data is formed from the saved data and data to be additionally written, completing the writing operation.

  • Patent number: 6009545
Abstract: Data containing defect position coordinates obtained based on the result of physical inspection of foreign material, a defect or the like at the surface of a semiconductor wafer by a defect inspecting apparatus is stored. Also stored is data of physical coordinates obtained based on fail bit data from a tester. Data indicating an additional failure region is produced by an additional failure region estimating apparatus based on the fail bit data, and is stored. Collation produces data of corrected physical position coordinates by adding the stored data of limitation by failure mode to the stored data of physical position coordinates, and collates the data of corrected physical position coordinates with stored data of defect position coordinates. Accordingly, accuracy in collation is improved, and failure can be analyzed even if caused not by a defect located at an address of the failure obtained by the fail bit data but by a defect relating to the defect located at the address of a failure.

  • Patent number: 6007105
Abstract: A swivel seal assembly is defined for providing sealed high pressure fluid communication between relatively rotatable generally coaxial conduits where dynamic runout and static misalignment may occur to one conduit relative to the other. A generally tubular washpipe is mounted in pivotally articulating relation to one conduit, and a generally tubular seal housing is telescoped over the washpipe and mounted in pivotally articulating relation to the other conduit. High pressure, staged rotary seals are supported by the seal housing and maintain bearing and sealing engagement with the washpipe so that the seal housing and washpipe articulate in unison in response to said static misalignment and dynamic runout, thereby virtually eliminating relative lateral motion between the seal housing and washpipe and minimizing rotary seal extrusion damage.
