  • Patent number: 10819261
Abstract: Electric power generator protection is secured by detecting wiring errors to an intelligent electronic device using terminal third voltages at the terminal (VT3) and third harmonic voltages at the neutral (VN3). When an angle between VT3 and VN3 is outside of an acceptable range, a wiring defect is detected, and certain protective operations are blocked. An alarm may be generated, facilitating personnel to identify and rectify the wiring defect. Wiring defects may further be detected when a torque calculated using VT3 and VN3 exceeds a predetermined error threshold. Security of protection elements is increased by detection of wiring defects that may have resulted in misoperation of the protection elements.

  • Patent number: 10816485
Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying a material in an object. An image of the object generated from energy passing through the object is obtained by a computer system. The computer system estimates attenuations for pixels in a sensor system from the image of the object to form estimated attenuations. The estimated attenuations represent a loss of the energy that occurs from the energy passing through the object. The computer system also identifies the material in the object using the estimated attenuations and known attenuation information for identifying the material in the object.

  • Publication number: 20200336696
Abstract: Existence of instrumentation for automatic video recording creates an excess capacity of video recording for those who own automatic video recorders. Others may want to utilize this excess capacity to record their activities thus there is a need for a system that helps match those who would like to utilize the excess capacity with those who have such capacity. Such excess capacity is matched with demand to use such excess capacity by creating a network of automatic video recording units and tags that are associated with people who want to be recorded.

  • Publication number: 20200331381
Abstract: A tank for transporting fluids on a truck chassis includes a front wall, side walls, a back wall, a top, and a floor. Interior stairs extend from the floor to an opening in the top to allow stair access into the interior with integrated safety handrails on the fill port cover. Stair toe kicks act as internal transverse baffles to help control fluid motion and surging. The stairs also act as a structural stiffener between longitudinal baffles. Horizontal baffles assist in controlling fluid motion and surging. Formed baffles provide strength and stiffness. A baffle interlocking system improves joint integrity and aids manufacturing. Formed outer skins provide structural strength for the tank. Ports located in front and rear bulkheads may be used for tank ventilation or, depending on local safety codes, as secondary access points. Doors or other access openings may be located in the tank bulkheads to provide better interior access.

  • Publication number: 20200331427
Abstract: A vehicle seat belt system includes a retractable seat belt buckle, one or more buckle sensors, and a control unit. The control unit is communicatively coupled to the one or more buckle sensors and one or more drive systems of a vehicle. The retractable seat belt buckle is movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The one or more buckle sensors are positioned to sense a position of the retractable seat belt buckle and output a signal indicative of the position of the retractable seat belt buckle. The control unit receives the signal from the one or more buckle sensors, determines the position of the retractable seat belt buckle based on the signal from the one or more buckle sensors, and transmits a stop signal to the one or more vehicle drive systems to cause the one or more vehicle drive systems to prevent motion of the vehicle when the retractable seat belt buckle is positioned in the extended position.

Abstract: An appliance lid hinge assembly includes a cam arm pivotally connected a base. A cam arm control system includes a spring rod adapted to move in a sliding reciprocal manner. A spring urges the spring rod toward an extended position. The spring rod is movable toward a retracted position. The cam arm is engaged with the spring rod through a cam follower such that: (i) pivoting movement of the cam arm in an opening direction corresponds with movement of the spring rod from the retracted position toward the extended position; and, (ii) pivoting movement of the cam arm in a closing direction opposite the opening direction corresponds with movement of the spring rod from the extended position toward the retracted position. An optional damper exerts a damping force on the spring rod or other part of the cam arm control system when the cam arm moves in a closing direction.
