The formulated oil has a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component; and at least one metal salt of a carboxylic acid, as a minor component; wherein the metal salt of the carboxylic acid contains no sulfur or phosphorus; wherein the metal is selected from the group consisting of palladium (Pd), silver (Ag), gold (Au), zinc (Zn), and mixtures thereof; wherein the carboxylic acid is selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic carboxylic acid, a cycloaliphatic carboxylic acid, an aromatic carboxylic acid, and mixtures thereof; wherein the molar ratio of (zinc+palladium+silver+gold)/phosphorus of said formulated oil is greater than 1.0. The lubricating oils are useful in internal combustion engines.

According to the present invention, a fatty acid ester can be efficiently produced via a transesterification reaction without using any expensive buffer solution or amphipathic substance. Furthermore, in the reaction, it is not necessarily required to agitate reactants at a high speed, which makes the present invention adaptive to various production facilities and conditions.

    Abstract: Marine fuel oil compositions are provided that exhibit unexpectedly high cetane numbers after addition of a cetane improver. Methods of making such compositions are also provided. The unexpected nature of the marine fuel oil compositions is based in part on the ability to achieve a substantial improvement in estimated cetane number by addition of a cetane improver to a hydrocarbonaceous composition with a natural estimated cetane number of less than 35. These unexpectedly high increases in estimated cetane number for fuels or fuel blending components with low natural estimated cetane numbers can allow for production of fuel compositions with desirable combustion characteristics while also maintaining a higher level of aromatic compounds and/or reducing or minimizing the amount of distillate boiling range components in the fuel or fuel blending component.

    Abstract: Methods are provided for forming noble metal catalysts comprising both platinum and a second Group VIII metal, such as palladium, with improved aromatic saturation activity. Instead of impregnating a catalyst with both platinum and another Group VIII metal at the same time, a sequential impregnation can be used, with the Group VIII metal being impregnated prior to platinum. It has been discovered that by forming a Group VIII metal-impregnated catalyst first, and then impregnating with platinum, the distribution of platinum throughout the catalyst can be improved. The improved distribution of platinum can result in a catalyst with enhanced aromatic saturation activity relative to a catalyst with a similar composition formed by simultaneous impregnation.

An atomization spray is disposed at the center of the upper part of the dehydrogenation tank, and flow stirring modules used for stirring a flowing solution are respectively disposed at the middle and the bottom of the dehydrogenation tank. Each of the two flow stirring modules includes at least two layers of flow stirring meshes. By means of disposing the atomizing spray and the flow stirring modules in the dehydrogenation tank, the TRO solution flowing into the dehydrogenation tank are fully stirred, so that hydrogen gas mixed with the TRO solution is able to diffuse out fully and rapidly, thereby increasing dehydrogenation efficiency as well as reducing volume of the dehydrogenation tank. In addition, the present invention also provides a ballast water treatment system having the dehydrogenation tank.
