Abstract: The invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy and may be suitable for controlling the feed of alumina to electrolytic cells for producing aluminum to maintain the alumina concentration in the electrolytic melt equal or close to the saturation value. To maintain the alumina concentration within the set range, reduced voltage U or pseudo-resistance R is measured. The measured values are recorded at fixed time intervals, underfeeding or overfeeding phases compared to a theoretical alumina feeding rate during electrolysis are formed, whereas the duration of underfeeding phases is selected depending on the alumina concentration in the electrolytic melt, and the duration of overfeeding phases is determined according to the change of one or more electrolytic cell parameters being recorded: reduced voltage, U, pseudo-resistance. R, rates of reduced voltage, dU/dt, pseudo-resistance, dR/dt, change.

  • Publication number: 20170144871
Abstract: An apparatus for operating a hand chain of a hand chain hoist. A housing forms a void through which a hand chain of the hand chain hoist moves in either a lifting direction or a lowering direction, to lift or lower, respectively, a load corresponding to the hand chain hoist. A sprocket or two pulleys are movably mounted within the housing. A drive, such as a right angle drill, operably moves the sprocket and/or the pulley and thus moves the hand chain, selectively, in the lifting direction or the lowering direction. A line, a cord and/or another suitable structural element connects the housing to an overhead structure. Another line, cord and/or other suitable structural element connects or holds the housing with respect to a ground surface or another fixed structural element, and an operator can use this line, which can be adjustable, to tighten and hold the overall chain hoist drive time of this invention.

  • Patent number: 9656536
Abstract: A system for cooling a vehicle compartment using a twin cell thermal battery and waste heat. Cool air from the evaporators of a twin cell thermal battery system is used to chill a compartment, such as an icebox in a trunk or a cabin of a vehicle. The energy needed to create the cooling effect for the cool compartment comes directly from the waste heat of vehicle exhaust gas. The system provides for the air conditioning and charging mode to work simultaneously because of a twin cell battery configuration. A thermoelectric generator (TEG) is also provided in addition to the twin cell battery thereby making the system self-powered. The system uses energy that would otherwise be lost to the environment to provide a cooling source within the vehicle.
