Abstract: A system for delivering page messages to paging units over a wide area is provided through multiple transmission systems. The system has a controller for routing page messages to each paging unit through the transmission system to which the paging unit is registered. Each transmission system periodically sends a system message having at least a unique identifier for the transmission system. Each paging unit receives system messages of at least one of the transmission systems when located in the transmission system's coverage area, and receives page messages from the transmission system registered to the paging unit when located in that transmission system's coverage area. Paging units update their registration with the controller in accordance with the identifier of received system messages different from their current registered identifier via user enabled or automatic means. The controller may resend messages to paging units which were sent during periods of unlikely reception.

Abstract: A system for linking transmissions from multiple wireless transmission sites over a wide area by centrally controlling the batching of transmissions at the sites. The transmission sites are grouped into one or more zones. The system includes a controller (control point equipment) for receiving data representing transmission requests and associating each request with a unique serial number, and for sending transmissions having control information to sites in one or more zones by addressing each of the transmissions with one of a plurality of zone addresses in which each zone address defines one or more zones. For each zone, the controller stores the transmission requests in a master database, with their associated serial number, which are pending for the zone.

Abstract: A system for managing the configuration of multiple computer devices over a network is provided in which each of the computer devices has memory for storing local configuration information and is configurable in accordance with its stored local configuration information. A file server in the system is connectable to each of the computer devices via the network. The file server has memory storing master configuration information for each of the computer devices. Each of the computer devices periodically connects via the network to the file server to provide a connected computer device. The connected computer device compares data characterizing its master configuration information at the file server with data characterizing its local configuration information to determine if its master and local configuration information are different.
