The present invention also relates to collection methods comprising the use of a brush-like device having flexible or semi-flexible bristles wherein the brush-like device is contacted to the faecal material. The present invention also relates to detection of occult blood from the sample collected from the faecal material by means of a guaiac test or immunochromatographic test. The present invention additionally relates to the detection of one or more indicators of a pathological condition in or on the faecal material from which the sample is derived.
