Publication number: 20250011230Abstract: A method for producing supplementary cementitious material (“SCM”). The method comprises: contacting an input stream with a mechano-thermal activation aid; thermally treating the input stream to form a thermally treated input stream; and cooling the thermally treated input stream and obtaining supplementary cementitious material. The method may further comprise carbonating the thermally treated input stream. The method may further comprise modification of a network structure by the mechano-thermal activation aid. A composition comprising a calcium silicate hydrate bond; a supplementary cementitious material; and a mechano-thermal activation aid. The composition may further comprise a carbonate. The composition may further comprise a biomass.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2024Publication date: January 9, 2025Applicant: EnviCore Inc.Inventors: Aseem Pandey, Shahrukh Shamim

Publication number: 20240254019Abstract: Methods are provided for treating intimately dispersed mixtures of water, bitumen, and fine clay particles, such as oil sands mature fine tailings (MFT). Select methods use dissolved silicate ions and a base (alkali), optionally in combination with a biopolymer, to flocculate a slurry. A mixing regime is disclosed involving the addition to MFT of silicate ions in solution and alkali, to initiate aggregation/destabilization of clay particles. Methods are exemplified that provide distinct sediment layers in conjunction with the release of residual bitumen (for example 40-50% of the initial bitumen content). In these exemplified embodiments, a densely packed bottom layer containing ˜75 wt. % solids showed high yield stress values (3.5-5.5 kPa) and entrapped little residual bitumen (0.2-0.3 wt. %). The methods accordingly segregate a material suitable for reclamation.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2024Publication date: August 1, 2024Applicant: EnviCore Inc.Inventors: Milana Trifkovic, Shahrukh Shamim, Aleksandra Govedarica, Mahmoud Ansari

Publication number: 20240043330Abstract: A method for treatment of tailings including, but not limited to, mature fine tailings (MFT) from mine tailings, oil sands, coal tailings, industrial tailings, thin fine tailings (TF), and laterite tailings. The method comprises contacting the tailing with a deflocculant to reduce the yield stress and viscosity of the tailings, resulting in accelerated solid mineral sedimentation and segregation. The process may yield nanoclays (NCs) that may be used for NC compositions.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2021Publication date: February 8, 2024Applicant: EnviCore Inc.Inventors: Aseem Pandey, Milana Trifkovic, Shahrukh Shamim
