Abstract: A remote temperature detector system comprises a reference thermal mass; a temperature sensor in thermal contact with the reference thermal mass for monitoring temperature thereof and generating temperature signals indicative of the monitored temperature; an infrared detector for detecting infrared radiation emitted by an external object and generating infrared detection signals; and a processor in communication with the temperature sensor and the infrared detector to receive the temperature and infrared detection signals, wherein the processor is configured to operate on the infrared detection signals and temperature signals to estimate temperature of the one or more external objects.
Abstract: An imaging system for obtaining images having enhanced features is described. The imaging system includes an optical system that receives and direct light from a field of view to two or more image planes. The image planes are optically coupled and configured to detect at least a portion of the received light and generate image data corresponding to the field of view. The system can include a processor that receives the image data generated by each plane and combines the data to form a combined image. The combined image can have a higher resolution than any image that can be obtained from the individual image sensors and the image plane may be curved to reduce the cost of optics. The processor can detect objects (e.g., moving objects) contained in images obtained from one image plane and configure the other image planes to obtain more detailed images of the detected objects.
Abstract: In one aspect, the invention provides an imaging system including an optical system adapted to receive light from a field of view and direct the received light to two image planes. A fixed image detector is optically coupled to one of the image planes to detect at least a portion of the received light and generate image data corresponding to at least a portion of the field of view. A movable (e.g., rotatable) image detector is optically coupled to the other image plane to sample the received light at different locations thereof to generate another set of image data at a higher resolution than the image data obtained by the fixed detector.
