Abstract: A transaction request may be initiated and completed using a vehicle based communication system. A vehicle may include a wireless tag or transponder, and a wireless system at a service station or fuel station can detect the presence of the wireless tag in a predefined wireless service area. The wireless system can transmit location information based on the detected location of the wireless tag or vehicle to the wireless tag. A communication device may establish a communication connection with a wireless tag or transponder, and through the communication connection, the wireless tag can transmit the location information received from the wireless system to the communication device. The requester may use the communication device to provide or enter transaction information. The communication device can transmit the transaction information for transaction authorization, and in response to authorization of the transaction, a transaction authorization indication may be transmitted to a point of sale.

Abstract: A transaction system may receive transaction information for a fueling transaction that includes input data from a communication device in the vehicle. Upon detecting the presence of a wireless device of the vehicle in a predefined wireless service area of a service station, the service station may read the wireless device and may transmit the fuel stop information and to the transaction system. The transaction system may determine if the fuel stop information corresponds to the transaction information and if the fueling transaction is authorized. Upon determining that the fueling transaction is authorized, a transaction authorization indication may be transmitted to the service station and the service station may activate a fuel dispenser system to dispense fuel into the vehicle.

Abstract: A method and system for regulating fuel transactions is provided. Fuel consumption data may be received corresponding to a first and second vehicle location. The difference between the first and second fuel consumption is determined to obtain an overall or combined fuel consumption value. In some examples, the fuel consumption data is transferred from a vehicle data system to a carrier data system located remotely from the vehicle. The data is processed at the carrier data system and the overall fuel consumption is transmitted to a fueling point to limit the amount of fuel transferred to the vehicle. In some arrangements, the limit may be adjusted to include additional factors such as additional distance to travel to the fueling point, anticipated distance to be traveled in subsequent legs of the trip, etc.

Abstract: A method and system for processing a transaction request prior to a vehicle arriving at a service station is provided. Upon entering a wireless service area of a back office system associated with a service station, a driver and/or truck may request certain transactions. The back office system may communicate with a carrier information system associated with the driver and/or truck to validate and authorize the transaction. If the transaction is authorized, the back office system may send authorization to the service station. Once the driver and/or truck arrives at the point of sale, they may proceed directly to performing the requested transaction. A receipt may be automatically generated at the point of sale and transmitted to the carrier information system through the back office.

Abstract: A marketplace may be provided to allow posting of transport jobs and bidding on various aspects of the transport jobs. For example, a carrier may bid on transportation of cargo while fuel providers may bid on the fuel provision. In some arrangements, the carriers may solicit bids for a fueling portion of a transport job that they wish to bid on, have already bid on or have won. Transport may correspond to the physical conveyance of cargo from origin to destination and may include vehicle costs, driver costs, carrier fees and the like. Fuel costs may refer to the cost of fuel and/or pumping fees. A system may automatically generate suggested routes for transport and determine a projected amount of fuel needed for the trip. Additionally, the system may automatically identify potential or projected refueling locations and select refueling stations or providers based thereon.

For example, transaction information relating to a fuel transaction may be delivered to the appropriate point of sale for completion. Transactions that are pre-authorized prior to a purchaser's arrival at a service station may also be activated using the surrogate controller. Fuel dispensing may be dependent on confirmation that the vehicle and dispensing pump are in close proximity.

Accordingly, the fueling station may automatically determine whether to record a transaction upon receiving a transaction initiation request. Transaction recordings may be made based on transaction recordation parameters defined by a carrier and stored and indexed based on transaction storing parameters.

In response to successful authorization of the transaction, a transaction authorization may be transmitted to the specific fuel dispenser where the authenticator was presented, which may be used to enable the specific fuel dispenser for use.
