    Abstract: The present invention is directed to system of fasteners for a firearm, which includes a takedown pin and pivot pin for coupling an upper receiver to the lower receiver of a firearm. The system includes a first component defining one or more first openings and a second component defining one or more second openings. A detent mechanism is secured to the second component and includes a detent pin. A locking pin is configured to insert through the first opening and the second opening to secure the first component to the second component. The locking pin defines a detent opening positioned to receive the detent pin when the locking pin is inserted through the second opening. A release pin is positioned within the locking pin and is configured to urge the detent pin outwardly relative to the locking pin when the release pin is translated relative to the locking pin.

Splines protruding inwardly within the tube and the endcap includes tabs positioned between pairs of adjacent splines of the plurality of splines. Fasteners pass through the tube and engage the tabs. The ring portion may increase with thickness from the rail cap. The front of the rail cap may include two regions with different slopes.
