Patent number: 7151715Abstract: A method and an apparatus (1) are used to detect the position of the edge (2) of a moving product web (3). The apparatus (1) has piezoelectric elements (5), which firstly output ultrasonic pulses (10) and secondly pick them up and convert them into an electrical signal. The product web (3) is arranged between the piezoelectric elements (5) and a reflector (11) for this purpose. If the product web (3) is located in the measurement range of the piezoelectric element (5), it attenuates the ultrasonic pulses as a result of reflection or absorption during the double passage of the latter. The position of the product web edge (2) is calculated from this attenuation.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2004Date of Patent: December 19, 2006Assignee: Erhardt & Leimer GmbHInventors: Juergen Eisen, Wolfgang Krauth, Hang Seibold

Patent number: 5921452Abstract: A device (5) for swinging a roll (4) for a moving web (15) consists of a shaft (6) extending through the roll (4), with provision made for gearings (7, 8) on the ends of said shaft. A servo-drive (10) engages the gearing (7), putting the shaft (6) into rotation and displacing its end (9). Gearing (8) on the counter end (12) of the roll (4) translates the rotary motion of the shaft (6) into a motion of thrust of the counter end (12) in the opposite sense, so that shaft (6) is swiveled by the single servo-drive (10) around its central point (13). Roll (4) is rotatably supported on shaft (6) and is jointly swiveled with the latter (FIG. 1).Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1997Date of Patent: July 13, 1999Assignee: Erhardt & Leimer GmbHInventors: Johannes Wulf, Heinrich Niemann

Patent number: 5575414Abstract: A process and apparatus for guiding and keeping a material web spread out uses a spreading roll and with contact pressure elements and a control member controlled by a control system monitors the control path in a way such that the spacing of the contact pressure elements from the spreading roll is varied. Because of the advantages that the control path has in the present case, a rapid and stable control of the position of the material web is assured. This is advantageous especially in connection with highly sensitive material webs such as, for example, wide-meshed textile webs.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1995Date of Patent: November 19, 1996Assignee: Erhardt & Leimer GmbHInventors: Alois Groninger, Werner Geyer, Hans Seibold

Patent number: 5421500Abstract: For guiding webs of paper or cardboard, a guide cylinder extending across half of the web grips onto the surface of the web and achieves moving corrections on the webs by rotation or swinging. The long, linear support zone of the guide cylinder causes a high mechanical stress, whereby the guide cylinder exerts almost no corrective effect in its center zone. By dividing the guide cylinder into at least two spaced-apart, parallel guide rolls having their axes disposed perpendicular to the running direction of the material web, a suitable larger effective area is obtained for correction of the direction of movement.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1992Date of Patent: June 6, 1995Assignee: Erhardt & Leimer GmbHInventors: Heinrich Niemann, Hans Wulf
