Abstract: A system for detecting the orientation of an optical cable for communication purposes has resonant networks or transponders on or in the cable jacket or sheath which have electromagnetic field lines detachable at the surface and running in the direction of the cable. The system can be used for identification of the cable as well.

Abstract: A method of laying a cable system in which the cable guide tube has internal ribs alternating in helical direction and of dimensions and number designed for particular cable radii and cross section to allow the cable, whether a single cable or a bundle or cables to be blown through about 2000 m of the tube with 90 kN of force or to be pulled by a strand through the conduit with a force of 2.5 kN over a stretch of 1400 m without damage to the cable.

Abstract: A pipe connection which the insertion piece fits into a sleeve and presses a retaining ring there against. The retaining ring has a compression rib and is constructed so as to be urged into a channel in the sleeve, The ring body is formed unitarily with a sealed lip and a closure lip and a compression-relieving groove opens axially in the direction of insertion and extends almost to but is spaced from a radial plane of the compression rib.

Abstract: A cable-guide assembly of particular utility in ground subsidence regions consists of three tubes extruded simultaneously with the connecting webs and abutting at hexagonal segments form with two angularly adjoining surfaces. A subsequently applied sealing strip or a sealing strip formed on one of the tubes not interconnected by a connecting web can bridge between the two tubes which are not interconnected by such webs when the bundle is formed.

Abstract: An electrical conduit for wires or cables is formed by a tube extending along a longitudinal axis and having an inner wall formed with a plurality of longitudinally throughgoing ridges each formed by a plurality of longitudinally joined sections with every other section inclined oppositely relative to the axis to the intervening sections. In other words the ridges run alternately along a right-hand helix and then a left-hand helix. The sections may be of varying pitch and part circular in section. They can also be substantially identical in which case they are straight, meet at corners, and are all of the same pitch.
Abstract: An array of octagonal extruded plastic tubes connected by flexible webs is folded to form a tube bundle with flat surfaces of the outer octagonal periphery of each tube engaging flat surfaces of two other tubes so that four flat surfaces of the tubes define a square cross section central space for receiving cabling.

Abstract: A conduit assembly for cabling has a multiplicity of plastic tubes with outer polygonal cross sections having more than three sides and is intended for direct insertion in the ground in a compact bundle in which there is practically no free space which can serve for water drainage. The tubes are connected with webs which are flexible and are so oriented that they are linearly aligned in an open array of the tubes so that the tubes are coplanar and can be coiled or coiled onto a drum or uncoiled from a drum.
