Abstract: A plank having a wood core with a groove formed in each of its sides and a protective cladding formed on its top surface. The wood core is formed by bonding a plurality of wood strips or chips together. The cladding is provided by a sheet of a material selected from the group consisting of plastic, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), acrylic, polycarbonate, and composites thereof that is bonded to the top surface, or by two or another number of sheets of a material selected from the group consisting of polyester, phenol, epoxy, and composites thereof, that are sprayed or rolled onto the top surface. T-shaped connector clips can be provided with the arms receivable in the grooves of the plank for securing adjacent planks together.
Abstract: A plastic modular fence system having posts, a first rail, a second rail, and upright picket boards extending between the rails. A plurality of mounting brackets each have a T-shaped opening for receiving an end of one of the rails therein and an edge of a picket therein. The bracket opening extends through the peripheral wall in places to allow the edge of the picket to extend out of the bracket on opposite sides. Also, the rails have openings configured to receive the generally vertical picket boards when the rails are positioned either horizontally or at an angle to the horizon. For example, the openings in the intermediate rail have a generally trapezoidal shape with one opening end longer than the other opening end.
Abstract: A mailbox post assembly and kit for insertion into the ground and for supporting a mailbox, in which an elongate, hollow post has cooperating openings for transversely receiving a hollow beam, decorative inserts are mounted on the post and beam to give the appearance of a brace, and during transportation or storage, the hollow beam and the decorative inserts fit inside of the hollow post.
Abstract: A fence mounting bracket for use with a fence, railing, or the like having upright posts, lateral rails extending between the posts, and upright picket boards extending between the rails. The bracket comprises a body having a peripheral wall defining a T-shaped opening including a rail opening portion for receiving an end of one of the rails and two picket opening portions for receiving an edge of one of the picket boards. The peripheral wall has opposing side walls that are slanted and/or inwardly flanged to receive the rails when they are positioned either horizontally or at an angle to horizontal. The picket opening portions extend through the side walls to permit the picket boards to seat flush against the upright posts so that little or nor gap remains therebetween.
Abstract: A bracket for attaching a rail to a post. The bracket comprises a means for attaching said bracket to a post and means to provide said bracket with added support. Preferably, the bracket is bread shaped to fit a specific rail style well-known in the art. The bracket further comprises flanges to allow the bracket to be fastened to upright posts. The flanges are adapted to provide against vertical movement and against lateral movement through their opposing locations and their angled surface. Additionally, the bracket comprises an extended base to provide increased strength in response to force exerted on the attached rail.
Abstract: A molded bracket for attaching a plastic rail to a plastic post. The bracket comprises outwardly extending fastener bosses for attaching the bracket to a post and providing the bracket with added support. The bracket further comprises a peripheral wall defining a shaped receptacle for receiving the end of a rail therein. The outwardly extending fastener bosses allow the bracket to be fastened to upright posts and to provide against vertical, horizontal and rotational movement.
