The clamping element is formed with an engagement surface (24, 25, 26, 71a) fitting on, matching and engaging a portion of the cross brace (9, 69) with a projection-and-recess fit. The clamping element and the cross brace are attached together, for example by the same screw which can hold a caliper brake. The clamping element is, further, formed with at least one recess (35, 335, 62, 74, 75, 71), shaped and dimensioned to receive at least part of an extending end portion of the luggage carrier and extending essentially at right angles to the rear fork.
