Patent number: 6978818Abstract: A device for affixing an adhesive label to a package comprises a piston and cylinder. The cylinder comprises two connections arranged on a wall of the cylinder spaced apart from each other, which are alternatively connected to either a positive or a negative pressure media source. The connections control the movement of the piston inside the cylinder so that the piston can move between a first dead center position and a second dead center position thereby causing a stamp to affix a label to the package. Shortly before reaching the first dead center, the piston blocks the first connection with its cylindrical wall, thereby stopping any increase in negative pressure between the piston and the first dead end position.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2000Date of Patent: December 27, 2005Assignee: Espera Werke GmbHInventors: Winfried Vicktorius, Ralf Dippe

Patent number: 6080937Abstract: A method and an apparatus for weighing and labeling packages of goods are provided. Each package is supplied to an electronic scale that is connected to an electronic analyzer that contains a computer. The load carrying mechanism of the scale is embodied as a conveyor belt, the speed of which is greater during supply and withdrawal than during a weighing process. Labeling of a package is effected on the conveyor belt after conclusion of the weighing process. Disruptions of the scale, caused by vibrations resulting from conveying and labeling packages, are eliminated on the one hand by a sufficiently high dead weight of the load carrying mechanism and on the other hand by a low-pass filter that is disposed in the electronic analyzer.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1998Date of Patent: June 27, 2000Assignee: Espera-Werke GmbHInventors: Manfred Korthauer, Guillaume Roberto de Miranda

Patent number: 6009926Abstract: A device for attaching adhesive labels to packaged goods has a compressed air source and a vacuum source that are alternatingly connected by program-controlled two way valves to air inlet openings of a pneumatic cylinder. A main piston is connected to the upper end of a hollow piston rod and is guided between an upper and a lower dead center position in the pneumatic cylinder. The hollow piston rod has a lateral air opening within the cylinder. A suction holder is connected to a lower end of the hollow rod positioned external to the pneumatic cylinder. The suction holder has a suction channel axially connectable to the hollow piston rod and closeable partially by a check valve. A label transfer unit has a label transfer position in which a respective label is positioned at a small distance below the suction holder when in its upper position. Patent number: 3962563Abstract: A line scale scanner utilizing three photoelectric cells, offset relative to one another within a space no larger than one divisional unit of the scale, to be operated as the scale moves to divide each scale unit into six increments. Each of the six increments can be obtained as the line scale moves forward or backward, providing 12 combinations from which a discriminator forms electric pulses. The pulses indicate if the increment is odd or even and if it occurred as the line scale moved forward or backward. The odd and even pulses which are provided on two different outputs of the discriminator can then be fed to counters which analyze them to determine if a system malfunction has occurred. The counters can be connected to provide the same output when the system is operating without error. Likewise, the counters can be connected to count complementary when no error has occurred. A circuit is also disclosed which provides a defect signal when a malfunction of the system occurs.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1974Date of Patent: June 8, 1976Assignee: Espera-Werke GmbHInventor: Hans-Dieter Schulz-Methke
