    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a multi-functional fastener includes a preparing operation, a forming operation and a threading operation. The preparing operation prepares a metal blank cut from a length of a metal material. The forming operation is executed so that the metal blank forms a shank, a head, and a drilling portion connected to the shank. The threading operation is executed to roll the metal blank with a thread rolling set having two opposite rolling plates. Each rolling plate has slit grooves and convex units arranged in alternation. Each of the convex units has protrusions each situated between two adjacent slit grooves, which allows the threading operation to equip the shank of the metal blank with thread convolutions, slots formed between the thread convolutions for helping quick removal of chips, and main ribs formed between any two adjacent slots for increasing cutting efficiency.

The rounded portions are inclined outwardly from the first reference line, and the arched portions are inclined outwardly from the second reference line. Thus, a first room enclosed by the rounded portions and the arched portions increases gradually towards the first surface. By a combination of the above sockets, the head cooperates with different driving tools for delivering driving force efficiently and is more convenient to use.

The cutting slot unit includes a first cutting slot with two first edges and a second cutting slot with two second edges. The first edge extends in an extension direction opposite to the right-hand direction. One first edge of the first cutting slot is parallel to one second edge of the second cutting slot. The opposite extension of the cutting slot unit assists the screw in screwing quickly, attains quick removal of chips, and increases the fastening effect by pressing chips downwards.

    Abstract: A quick fastening screw includes a head, a shank with spirally-disposed thread convolutions, and a drilling portion. Each thread convolution has at least three flank sections and at least three arc sections each formed between any two adjacent flank sections. Two ends of each arc section and the flank sections adjacent to the arc section are respectively intersected to thereby form two joints. Between the two joints is formed a curved cutting portion which forms a radian not more than a quarter of a maximum thread radius so that each curved cutting portion becomes sharp to cut quickly, speed up a screwing operation, decrease the friction between the thread convolutions and a workpiece, and reduce the resistance and torque. The non-circular thread convolutions also receive cut debris efficiently and prevent the cracking of the workpiece caused by the undue accumulation of the debris.

The other drive wall is connected between two adjacent side walls of two adjacent grooves. At least one of the drive walls slopes downwards from the top surface at a slope of at least 1 degree. Each side wall connecting between the drive walls deviates inwards by an angle difference of at least 1 degree. The slope and the inward deviation of the walls receive a driving tool firmly to prevent a swinging problem and enhance the torque transmission. A punch adapted to form the recessed screw also facilitates a long-term production without losing the accuracy thereof.

By means of the cooperation of the cutting notches and the raw section, the cutting capability and the removal of debris are increased so that a fastened object is prevented from split. Thereby, the drilling speed is promoted, and the effort to rotate the screw is lessened. While the supporting strength of the screw is improved, the screw does not break easily while screwing.
