Patents Assigned to Essex Silverline Corporation
  • Patent number: 8083573
Abstract: A rotary floor sanding machine has a vertically oriented bell housing with a backside floor support and a dust suction port for removing dust from within. The bell housing encloses the sides and backside of a disk casing and rotary sanding pad. The floor support is configured to place the floor contact area of the sanding pad forward of center. There is a lifting vane extending from proximate the floor contact area of the sanding pad in the direction of rotation towards the suction port in the bell housing to elevate dust particles to the higher velocity airflow near the suction port. There may be a shield for reducing the floor level opening between the back edge of the disk casing and the bell housing.

  • Publication number: 20070105489
Abstract: A powered floor sanding system with a motorized drum-type floor sander with a sanding drum configured as a drum core with a compliant sole covered with a first component layer of a hook and loop fastener system, to which is fastened a removable drum surface of back to back layers of hook and loop fastener materials. The removable drum surface is replaceable if damaged. A sanding blank alignment guide at or below the height of the removable drum surface provides for alignment and hand wrapping of a sanding blank laminated back to back with one component of a hook and loop fastener system around the removable drum surface. The alignment guide may also be used to fasten the removable drum surface to the drum core.

  • Patent number: 7128640
Abstract: A powered floor sanding system with a rotating sanding drum having a drum core, to which is adhered a compliant sole and thereto a hook component material, using suitable adhesives; in combination with a sanding sheet having a loop fabric laminated to its backside with a high temperature adhesive so that the sanding sheet can be manually wrapped around the drum without special tools or other considerations, resulting in full surface area engagement of the hook and loop fastening materials with a butt joint of the sheet leading and trailing edges that does not overlap, and the sheet retains its grip on the drum for floor sanding operations under the weight of the floor sander at speeds up to 2800 rpm. There may be an alignment bar on the drum, not higher than flush. There may be a recess behind the bar for the leading edge of the sanding sheet.
