  • Patent number: 5405439
Abstract: A method for preparing a bitumen emulsion which comprises forming the emulsion from bitumen, water, emulsifying agent, inorganic acid and metal salt, said metal being selected from lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium and aluminum wherein the bitumen emulsion has a viscosity of at least 200 cst at 25.degree. C., by the steps of: (a) feeding the bitumen into a first static mixer at a temperature above 50.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4497200
Abstract: A method and a device are used for evaluating and indicating the wear conditions of a motor lubrication oil. The device comprises a motor oil temperature sensor, an electronic unit comprising a threshold detector and an analog circuit which receives a signal from the temperature sensor to supply a first current proportional to a temperature variation either below or above a satisfactory temperature for the oil, an integrating counter supplied with a second current in idle periods and a third current in periods of utilization, the sum of the three currents being integrated, and a signaling device associated with the threshold detector for measuring any voltage increase across the integrating counter. The invention is applicable to motor instruments, especially, automotive vehicle motors.

  • Patent number: 4390333
Abstract: A hole, particularly an accidental perforation, is closed by manoeuvering a bladder (g) into the hole employing a hollow rod (f) on which the bladder is mounted at one end. An operator operating from the other end of the rod actuates a device such as a triggered valve to cause the components of a settable foamed plastics material to pass (via tubes b and rod f) from their sources (in a) to fill the bladder (g) so that it closes the hole. The settable foamed plastics material is preferably polyurethane foam. The bladder may be of natural or synthetic rubber and may be protected against tearing by a textile envelope. The sources of foamed plastics material may be either in a portable kit (a) or rupturable containers within the bladder (g) or rod (f).

  • Patent number: 4164390
Abstract: A burner for burning a liquid hydrocarbon fuel at low outputs (no more than 50 kw) comprises a vaporizer to which liquid fuel is supplied and in which fuel is vaporized at autogeneous pressure, and means operative to furnish a flow of air at atmospheric pressure which sweeps fuel vapor escaping from the vaporizer to a burner head where the air-fuel vapor mixture is burned. The vaporizer operates independently of the conditions at the burner head, and the ratio of air to fuel vapor passed to the head is automatically maintained stoichiometric. The vaporizer is constructed to avoid fuel decomposition, and the fuel supply is arranged to ensure operating stability. Means to avoid fuel vapor emission at start-up and shut-down are provided.

  • Patent number: 4133485
Abstract: An atomizing device for mixing or atomizing fluids without moving parts and comprising, in combination, a hollow tube which has a substantially cylindrical inner wall and a core member situated within the tube in substantial coaxial relationship with and spaced from the inner wall. The surface of the core member includes at least one non-intersecting helical channel which extends substantially continuously for the length of the channel. Also, channel-forming means is provided about the core member in close proximity with the surface thereof and with the inner wall of the tube, which comprises at least one layer of at least one non-intersecting helical winding. Each winding in any single layer is in the opposite direction to each winding in the next or adjacent layer and each winding in the layer nearest the core is in the opposite direction to the helical channel formed in the core member.
