Abstract: A device (10) and a method for analyzing a sample (16) containing fluorophores use a light source (12) emitting light (?ex) onto the sample (16), and onto a fluorescence standard (14). The fluorophores of the sample (16), given an immission of light of a first wavelength (?ex1), have a first excitation efficiency and, given an immission of light of a second wavelength (?ex2), have a second excitation efficiency. The fluorescence standard (14), given the same immissions of light, has a third excitation efficiency and, a fourth excitation efficiency. An optical element (20) which is arranged between the light source (12) and the sample (16) and/or (12) the fluorescence standard (14) adapts, due to its optical property, a first difference between the first excitation efficiency and the second excitation efficiency and a second difference between the third excitation efficiency and the fourth excitation efficiency to each other.

  • Patent number: 3976942
Abstract: A watt/watthour meter of improved accuracy and relatively lower cost than a conventionally designed device with similar specifications. A current proportional to instantaneous power is obtained from a current-voltage multiplier circuit and is maintained as a current signal through amplifying and filtering, through the watt output load and through integrating in the watthour section. The multiplier uses a chopper modulator which provides two identical output current sources both floating with respect to ground so that one may be connected to the watt output amplifier and one to the watthour integrator. The signal from the power line which is proportional to the voltage modulates the signal which is proportional to the power line current by alternatively switching the modulated current between the two source outputs and by maintaining zero average input current flow from the modulated current signal through use of dc blocking capacitors.

  • Patent number: 3975682
Abstract: A watt/watthour meter of improved accuracy and relatively lower cost than a conventionally designed device with smilar specifications. A current proportional to instantaneous power is obtained from a current-voltage multiplier circuit and is maintained as a current signal through amplifying and filtering and through the watt output load and through integrating in the watthour section. The watthour integrator uses a charge compensation integrator circuit to integrate one of the watt signal currents and it can integrate in either direction corresponding to power in or power out. This can be accomplished because circuitry is disclosed to provide a current pulse having a precise magnitude and in either of two alternative, opposite current flow directions.

  • Patent number: 3971979
Abstract: A circuit for providing an output direct current which is a linearly proportional analog of the average and the effective magnitude of a sinusoidal input voltage or current. A transformer couples the sinusoid to a rectifier which applies a rectified sinusoid to a filtered current mirror circuit of low power requirements in order to provide a ripple free, high impedance current source output. The current mirror circuit is imbalanced in order to provide a non-linear characteristic which compensates for the transformer-rectifier non-linearity. The current mirror circuit also has an RC feedback network with sufficient feedback and gain to obtain an active, low pass filter characteristic. Component values are selected to give a sharp cutoff, active filter just below the ripple frequency to give efficient ripple elimination yet permit a rapid response time.

  • Patent number: 3971041
Abstract: A chart recorder for graphically displaying data utilizing a strip of heat-sensitive paper and a row of heat-generating dots. The strip of heat-sensitive paper is advanced across the row of heat-generating dots, and the dots are selectively energized in response to data to be displayed by the chart recorder. The position of an energized dot along the row of dots corresponds to a value of data.

  • Patent number: 3949408
Abstract: Apparatus for providing an offset digital printout of numbers or characters on a multipoint chart recorders with thermal matrix printing. A print head is operable to mark a chart with analog value indications in the form of graphs and is also operable to print numbers and characters at selected positions on the chart. The alphanumeric indications designate particular plots on the chart paper, a time indication or preselected numerical representations.

  • Patent number: 3941290
Abstract: A chart recorder has a drawer containing a supply of chart paper fed to the chart marking area, and an accumulation of marked chart paper received from the chart marking area. A flexible curved guide is connected to the drawer and to a permanent fixed guide and assumes different configurations when the drawer is moved from the chart accumulating position during a recording mode of operation, to a chart loading position when the drawer is moved to position for removing an accumulation of marked chart paper and installing and threading a new supply of chart paper during the chart threading mode. The configuration of the flexible guide aids in threading paper onto a drive roll during the threading mode, and aids in guiding the paper around obstructions and onto the roll during the recording mode.
