Abstract: Apart from polymerizable organic binders, a radiopaque dental material contains a fluoride of the rare earth metals or mixtures of such fluorides, as well as optionally further inorganic compounds as fillers. The dental material is suitable as a one or two-component filling material for dental cement, as a crown and bridge material, as well as for producing dentures, inlays and implants and is characterized by a high radiopacity and at the same time a good transparency.

Abstract: A dental instrument for applying powdered polymers has a reservoir for the powdered polymer that is pressurized at least while the polymer is being applied and communicates with a polymer nozzle through a line for conveying the powdered polymer, which contains a polymer-blocking mechanism. A line for conveying liquid monomer connects a liquid-monomer container, which is also pressurized, with a liquid-monomer nozzle. The release of liquid monomer is controlled by another blocking mechanism. The nozzles are positioned at an interval while being aimed at the same operating area.

Abstract: Mixing container for manufacturing dental preparations with a first part that contains a powdered material and a second, separable part that contains a liquid in a destructible foil bag.The bag is destroyed by a movable pestle. The resistance to ripping of the foil bag and the pressure impulse acquired by the pestle when the container is shaken in an oscillating mixer are proportioned to result in the destruction of the bag when struck by the pestle. The pestle has elevations and guides in preferred embodiments.

Abstract: Photopolymerizable composition, especially for dental purposes, which contains as photopolymerizable olefin compounds especially acrylic and/or methacrylic compounds as well as a ketone and an amine as activating substances. The amine has the general formula ##STR1## wherein the symbols have the following meanings: X represents cyan or halogen,R represents the group X--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -, an alkyl group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a hydroxyl group of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, an acrylic, methacrylic or vinyl group, andR.sub.1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, benzyl or styryl radical, orR and R.sub.1 together form an alkylene group of 4 to 5 carbon atoms, the amine being able to be present also in polymeric form if in the monomer R represents an acrylic, methacrylic or vinyl group and/or R.sub.1 represents the styryl radical.

Abstract: A method of producing a uniform synthetic coating on a working cast for dental applications which comprises:(A) applying to or introducing in said working cast a first catalyst component which, when initiated by a second catalyst component, effects polymerization of a polymerizable composition;(B) thereafter applying to said working cast said second catalyst component and a polymerizable composition which, when polymerized, forms a resin; and(C) thereafter effecting polymerization of said polymerizable composition to form a film.

Abstract: A novel alloy comprising bismuth and tin which is characterized by the co-presence of silver and/or antimony. Particularly described is a dental alloy comprising:1. 30 to 74 weight percent bismuth2. 19 to 69.9 weight percent tin3. EitherA. Silver in an amount of 0.1 to 5 weight percent; orB. Antimony in an amount of 0.1 to 7 weight percent; orC. Silver and antimony in a combined amount of 0.1 to 7 weight percent, the proportion of silver being not more than about 5% by weight.

Abstract: Metals with a relatively low melting point can be sprayed in the form of droplets which coalesce to form a coating. A metallizing gun is used for this purpose which comprises a thinwalled container of steel for the liquid metal which is surrounded by a massive block consisting of an alloy of a thermally conductive metal, which contains an electric heating element and a temperature sensor and whose external side serves to mount air ducts which transmit heat to the block and connect to the spray nozzle.

Abstract: A firing kiln, especially for use as a vacuum firing kiln for dental ceramic purposes, having a lower portion having a fixed firing platform, an upper portion raisable from the lower portion and in abutting relationship therewith, the lower portion having a hollow firing chamber in facing relationship with a fixed firing platform. The firing chamber includes means for emitting heat into the hollow chamber and toward the fixed firing platform, the surface of the fixed firing platform being at or above the level of the upper edge of the lower portion.

Abstract: An improvement in a dental articulator having a pair of opposed mountings each of which is itself mounted on arms adjustable and fixable in relationship to the opposed mounting and each of which has a spherical axial bearing for adjustably connecting a support for one of the mandibular and maxillary models the dental articulator being improved in that each of said spherical axial bearings is mounted at a sliding bushing, said sliding bushing axially adjustably and fixably disposed in a bore, said bore provided within each of said arms.

Abstract: An improvement in a device for securing a mixing capsule for dental preparations to the support of a vibrating machine for mixing the components of said dental preparations, the device being improved in that said support is provided with an abutment and a presser adjustable by a toggle lever pivoted to said support connected by way of a link to said presser which presser is axially movable in a reciprocating manner and in relation to said abutment.
