Abstract: A control device for controlling, preselecting and indexing rear derailleur gear changes on bicycles and similar vehicles. An operating lever is shaped and designed to work together with the control device for adjusting and indexing. The lever may be started from a neutral position to effect a tensioning or slackening of the cable on each reversal of the direction of a pivoting of the lever. The cable can be acted on to move the chair guide transversely for changing or selecting one or more gears, depending on whether or not there is a pedalling action.
Abstract: The object of the invention pertains more particularly to the art units of the manufacturing of rotary organs for the production and assembly of organs of plastics. The method is characterized in that toothed rotary organs (2) are made by molding directly with their rotational axis (1a) and their supporting cheek (1), and that a countercheek (3) is then made which is equipped for receiving for free rotation the toothed organs (2) and designed for a forced fit on the axis (1a) after the two cheeks have been brought nearer under pressure towards one another, in order to cause the fastening portions (2d) which connect the axes (1a) with the organs (2) to be broken off. The invention is more particularly to be used with the chain guide means of the gear shift devices of bicycles and similar vehicles.
Abstract: A saddle rod for bicycles and like vehicles which is in the form of a tube that is engaged and secured within a mating tube of a cycle frame. A head is affixed to the upper end of the tube and a carriage formed of two clamping flanges for the wires of the saddle frame, is connected to the head by a single screw for assembling the elements. Hence, the saddle relative to the saddle rod is secured after lengthwise and angular adjustment.
Abstract: A speed change device for a bicycle comprising an upper fixed transverse support and a lower movable transverse support carrying a chain guide and movable with the lower support to derail a chain with respect to a set of pinions of graduated size on a free wheel to change the gear ratios. An articulated parallelogram linkage connects the upper and lower supports to permit transverse displacement of the lower support; a pivotal member is pivotably mounted on the upper support and is adjustably connected to the lower support and a control cable is attached to the pivotal member at a pair of locations on opposite sides of the pivot axis thereof to pivot the pivotal member under the control of the cyclist and produce transverse displacement of the lower support and the chain guide thereon. The pivotal member and the upper support carry a detent arrangement for establishing stop positions corresponding to the engagement of the chain with the respective pinions on the free wheel.
