Abstract: A soft tissue repair implant includes a body having a base section and at least one appendage extending outwardly from the base section. The body is flexible such that the at least one appendage is movable relative to the base section. More particularly, the body is collapsible to a substantially planar configuration, in which the at least one appendage is positioned substantially co-planar relative to the base section. The body is also expandable to a substantially three-dimensional configuration, in which the at least one appendage extends at an angle from the base section. The body is constructed from a single, one-piece sheet such that the at least one appendage is connected to the base section seamlessly without any joint therebetween. A method for making the implant includes the steps of providing a flexible one-piece sheet, making a plurality of cuts in the sheet so as to form the body, and removing portions of the sheet beyond an outer periphery of the body.

Abstract: In a system with a surgical needle and a handle, the surgical needle has in its proximal end-section, lying opposite the needle tip, a holding section (14), which is set up for insertion into the handle. The handle has a channel (32), set up for holding the holding section (14) of the surgical needle, and a locking device (50, 70) with a locking element (50) which is displaceable in longitudinal direction of the channel (32) from a locking position, in which the holding section (14) is fixed to the handle, into a release position, in which the holding section (14) can be pulled out from the channel (32).

Abstract: A strip-like implant (1) has a tape (2) with a first end (4) and with a second end (6). In the area of at least one of the two ends (4, 6), a disk-like application aid (10) aligned with the plane of the tape (2) is arranged. The disk-like application aid can also be constructed in the shape of two jaws of a surgical gripping instrument which is set up to grip an implant tape.

Abstract: In a system with a surgical needle (10) and a handle (20), the surgical needle (10), in its proximal end region opposite the needle tip, includes a support section which is adapted to be pushed in the handle (20). The handle (20) includes a lumen adapted to support the support section of the surgical needle (10) and a locking device (30, 26), which can be adjusted from a locking position, in which the support section is secured to the handle (20), to a release position, in which the support section can be pulled out of the lumen.

Abstract: In a packaging (1) for surgical suture material, a thread duct (10) which runs in a wound manner is formed in a base (2), which thread duct opens at its first end (11) to a thread removal zone (3). The base (2) is provided with a cover. The thread removal zone (3) has a recess (24) in the base (2) adjacent to the first end (11) of the thread duct (10), adjacent to which recess a thread tray (26), which faces the first end (11) of the thread duct (10), is located.

Abstract: A surgical needle (1) for implanting a tape (2) has a needle tip (12) at the distal end (10) of the needle (1) and a shaft (14). An insertion wing (20) with a distal (24) and a proximal (26) end extends from the shaft (14). The insertion wing (20) widens from its distal end (24) in proximal direction and has in the area of its proximal end (26) an attachment device (32) for the tape (2) to be implanted.

Abstract: An areal implant, in particular for abdominal wall closure, has a flexible basic structure made from a knitted fabric comprising non-resorbable or slowly resorbable material or a combination of such materials. The knitted fabric of the basic structure is designed to stretch more than the tissue region destined to receive the implant below a critical force and stretch less than this tissue region above the critical force. The critical force lies below the highest load which is allowable for this tissue region. The basic structure is provided with a stiffening, synthetic resorbable material whose resorption time is less than that of the basic structure.
