    Abstract: The present invention discloses a joint structure between the wall elements of a light-weight magnetically shielded room. In the joint structure, the end of the aluminum plate of the element is stepped and its surface roughened. In addition to this, the aluminum plate is coated, for example, with tin to improve the electrical contact. The joint includes ? metal plates which are used to make a magnetic contact between the ? metal plates of the elements. The compression force achieved by means of bolts is transmitted to the joint by means of an aluminum moulding. The non-continuous compression force is balanced over the entire joint area by using presser rubbers. The joint structure is protected by means of supporting profiles which are used to electrically couple the thinner aluminum plate of the sandwich type wall element to the thinner aluminum plate of an adjacent element. The thinner aluminum plate and the supporting profile can also be coated, for example, with tin to improve the contact.

    Abstract: A door structure for a magnetically-shielded room intended to absorb interference magnetic fields, particularly very low frequency magnetic fields, and arranged to move substantially rectilinearly in the direction of the plane of the door leaf, and substantially rectilinearly in a direction which is perpendicular to the plane of the door leaf. The door leaf is attached to a support structure of the door leaf by hinge mechanisms so that the door leaf is movable perpendicular to the structure of the door leaf in order to provide a movement in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the door leaf. The door structure includes power transmission members arranged to exert an effect on press members on the edge areas of the door leaf such that the press members turn around hinging members whereby exposed .mu. metal sheet structure on the edge areas of the door leaf is pressed tightly against .mu. metal sheet structure of the shielding wall structure at an aperture in a wall of the magnetically-shielded room.

    Abstract: A support pillar system for a magnetically-shielded room including several support pillars, each support pillar including a nested structure formed by a first structure and a second structure surrounding the first structure. The upper end of the first structure has a threaded part and a member provided with a thread and disposed about the threaded part. The shielding structure of the magnetically-shielded room is attached to the second structure of the support pillar, whereby the floor of the room is supported on the upper end of the first structure. When the member provided with a thread is tightened in a locking position, it locks the first structure and the second structure together, whereby the vibration of the floor is transmitted to the shielding structure and the shield vibrates substantially in synchronization with the vibration of the floor of the room.

    Abstract: A shield wall structure for a magnetically-shielded room and a method for producing a magnetically-shielded room in which the shield wall structure includes at least one shield structure layer, each shield structure layer having a first aluminum sheet layer, a two-ply layer of .mu. metal sheets, and a second layer of aluminum base sheets. In the aluminum sheet constituting the first layer, holes are made at a hole spacing equivalent to the width of the .mu. metal sheets. Support members are disposed in the holes. The first layer of .mu. metal sheets is suspended, supported on the support members, and on top of these, the second layer of .mu. metal sheets is suspended by the support members in another direction. On top of the two-ply .mu. metal sheet structure, the base sheets of aluminum are positioned in conjunction with the support members. Tightening members are then coupled to the support members for operatively compressing the entire wall structure into a compact package.

The assembly comprises a closure which is disposed to be movable with respect to a fixed structure, with the closure and/or the fixed structure being provided with elements for establishing contact and thereby preventing transmission of interference fields between the two. In accordance with the present invention, the closure is disposed to move substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially perpendicular to a plane along a surface of the closure, and substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the closure.
