Abstract: An electric energy storage device comprises a casing and a coiled winding disposed within the casing. The winding includes a cathode plate, an anode plate, and a separator located between the cathode and anode plates. The cathode and anode plates are wound in an offset relationship. Two current collectors are secured to the casing, one current collector being pressed against the first side of the winding to contact the cathode plate, and the other current collector being pressed against the second side of the winding to contact the anode plate. A pressure vessel is provided to hold at least one of the casings having at least one of the windings therein. An electric vehicle is provided including a plurality of the energy storage devices.
