Patent number: 12168886Abstract: A segmented/modular cooling tower fan cylinder having basic segments, a motor segment and an access segment, assembled to form an hourglass shaped cooling tower fan cylinder to protect fan blades, reduce sound and vibration, and enhance performance. The segments are preferably molded fiberglass composite structures having integrally molded vertical and horizontal ribs and a horizontal rib stiffener which connects horizontal ribs of adjacent segments. A top ring stiffener is provided at the junction of each two adjacent segments in the top ring flange. Lifter bars may be provided inside a central vertical rib of the segment to secure cables or straps to hoist an assembled fan cylinder into its final location or to secure a safety harness for workers servicing equipment in the interior space defined by the fan cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2022Date of Patent: December 17, 2024Assignee: EvapTech, Inc.Inventors: Donald A. Dobney, Daniel J. Reith

Patent number: 8578680Abstract: A method for constructing a structure to be lifted and moved from a first location to a second location includes (a) constructing, at the first location, a framework of the structure that includes braces to withstand lifting and moving the structure; (b) constructing, at the first location, at least some internal components of the structure; (c) providing a lift platform capable of supporting, balancing and lifting the structure below the lift platform by flexible lift members attachable to the lift platform and the framework; (d) attaching the flexible lift members to the lift platform and to a plurality of spaced portions of the framework; (e) lifting the lift platform to thereby lift the structure; and (f) while lifted, moving the lift platform and the structure to the second location, where the structure is lowered. A lift platform preferably made of subassemblies of beams and braces is used in the method.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2010Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Assignee: EvapTech, Inc.Inventors: Travis W.
