Abstract: A vehicle parking barrier access control system (10, 40) uses a mobile smart device (46) (e.g., mobile phone) to instantly open any mechanical barrier (12) such as a gate or door to enter and exit a parking area with restricted access without preregistration and prepayment activity and without one or both of interaction with parking attendants and payment system equipment. The vehicle parking barrier access control system is equipment manufacturer agnostic and eliminates a direct need to integrate with gate or door barrier software and hardware.

Abstract: A communication system in which a plurality of unique identifiers (license plates) from certain defined classes of unique identifiers (i.e. license plates) are converted into electronic addresses enabling digital communication, content, and commerce to be transferred to the associated address. A verified rightful holder of the unique identifier can claim rights which can grant access to the digital data that has been transferred to the assigned electronic address. A sender, without knowing the identity of the holder of the unique identifier, may communicate a message to the converted corresponding electronic address in the hopes that the holder will claim the email address through a verification process. A central domain repository may be used to determine and publish a uniform convention for the unique identifier, to establish a standard that is universal.

An electronic message having an address based upon the unique identifier and consistent with an assigned convention is sent from a portable device and received by a server system. The message sent may include attachments such as, for example, pictures, audio and/or video files. The server system includes or is capable of accessing an electronic repository in which a plurality of unique identifiers are respectively associated with a corresponding plurality of profiles. Upon receipt at the server system, the message and any attachments are stored in association with a profile corresponding to the unique identifier. The server system then facilitates access to the message information and any attachments in accordance with the profile.

Abstract: A method and network for transmitting a message from a sender to a recipient wherein the sender has no previous knowledge of the recipient's identity. A method is provided for registering a user with a web-enabled database service by providing correlating data on the user's identity and vehicle license plate number and/or other vehicle identifying information. A sender observing a vehicle can send a message to the recipient by logging onto the service and sending a message including the license plate number of the vehicle or other vehicle identifying information. The service will forward the message to the recipient by looking up the vehicle information, discerning the most appropriate communications method(s), and causing the message to be transmitted to the recipient or stored for later delivery.
