Patent number: 8025424Abstract: Lighting fixtures and lighting systems for use in areas with high magnetic fields or areas that require low EMI emissions. The lighting systems include a non-ferrous lighting fixture having an LED light source and a control circuit. The LED light source includes one or more LEDs, and the control circuit provides a regulated operational current to the LED light source. The control circuit includes at least one switch for controlling the flow of current through the control circuit. The switch has a first state and a second state, and the operational current provided to the LED light source is increased and decreased in a linear manner based on the state of the at least one switch.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2009Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Everbrite, LLCInventors: Michael J. Patent number: 7629570Abstract: This invention is a non-ferrous lighting fixture and non-ferrous lighting system that can be used in areas with high magnetic fields or that require low EMI emissions, such as MRI operating rooms. This invention uses LED's to provide a high-intensity, quality white or other color light that is softened by reflectors and diffusers, and can be dimmed to provide flexible lighting levels. The flexible lighting levels can range from the maximum light used for patient procedures and equipment servicing/maintenance to the lowest light level used to keep a patient comfortable while facing upward on the MRI scanning table. Moreover, by using an aluminum substrate printed circuit board, this invention resolves the thermal issues associated with high-intensity lighting. Not only does this invention resolve glare and hot spot issues, it protects the user and installer from electrical hazards associated with potentially high voltages, as well.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2006Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignee: Everbrite, LLCInventors: Michael J. Patent number: 7063440Abstract: A lighting unit including at least one elongated substrate having a plurality of light-emitting optoelectronic devices mounted thereon and an elongated housing supporting the elongated substrate. The housing includes integrally-formed reflectors positioned adjacent the optoelectronic devices. The lighting unit also includes a translucent output panel that transmits light from the optoelectronic devices. The light unit has a first wiring harness for connection to a power source, and a second wiring harness connectable to an adjacent lighting unit.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2003Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: Everbrite, LLCInventors: Ferenc Mohacsi, Melissa Mueller Kwaterski, Michael Plichta

Patent number: 7021801Abstract: A high-intensity light comprising a side-emitting optoelectronic device adapted to emit light of a desired color. A heat sink is positioned adjacent the optoelectronic device and a reflector at least partially surrounds the optoelectronic device. The reflector is spaced a distance from the optoelectronic device. A window portion is sized to output the light in a desired arc.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2003Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Assignee: Everbrite, LLCInventor: Ferenc Mohacsi

Patent number: 6964507Abstract: A radiation-emitting device comprising a side-emitting optoelectronic device having an upper surface and a heat sink in thermal conductivity with the side-emitting optoelectronic device. A reflector at least partially surrounds the side-emitting optoelectronic device. The reflector is positioned and shaped to reflect the emitted light substantially in an output direction. A reflective, non-transparent layer is disposed adjacent the upper surface of the side-emitting optoelectronic device.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2003Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: Everbrite, LLCInventor: Ferenc Mohacsi

Patent number: 6948840Abstract: A lighting fixture is disclosed which provides a substantially uniform elongated light output, yet is powered by only a minimum number of inexpensive light emitting diodes. The lighting fixture has a curved back surface and a selected focal area to provide a substantially uniform output. Multiple LEDs may be controlled by a controller to provide special lighting effects. Each of the side surfaces and the back surface may include a reflector. The lighting fixtures preferably have flat end surfaces so they may be placed end-to-end to create an elongated light bar of any desired length.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2002Date of Patent: September 27, 2005Assignee: Everbrite, LLCInventors: Christopher Grenda, Ferenc Mohacsi

Patent number: 6942366Abstract: The invention provides a light fixture for illuminating a sign. The light fixture has a lamp and one or more reflectors to provide for substantially uniform illumination of a sign with a minimum number of light fixtures. One or more of the reflectors of some embodiments can formed from a material having predetermined pattern for reflecting and transmitting light from the lamp. For example, the reflectors can be made from a neutral density polymeric material consisting of a translucent or substantially transparent polymeric substrate with a pattern of reflective media disposed on or within the substrate. In some embodiments, one of the reflectors can be a specular reflector. Some embodiments of the light fixture can also include a thermal shield to at least partially prevent thermal convection along a portion of the lamp.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2003Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Assignee: Everbrite, LLCInventor: Ferenc Mohacsi
