Abstract: A paperboard substrate that can be used to provide a food packaging particle is provided having a water vapor barrier layer comprising HDPE in combination with a nucleating agent which is extruded on to a paperboard substrate. The resulting substrate has sufficiently good water vapor barrier when properties that dry foods such as cereals do not require a bag or inner liner as a separate moisture barrier.

Abstract: A barrier laminate for a paper substrate and a pouch formed from the paper substrate is provided. The paper substrate and pouch are suitable for packaging of food products and utilizes a 40-60% hardwood fiber content paper sheet having nylon barriers and EVOH barriers applied to a food contact surface of the paper.

Abstract: A gable top carton and a carton blank for forming a gable top carton are provided having patterns of score lines positioned beneath a closure aperture that relieve stress during a folding operation to better allow the carton blank to be formed into a suitable gable top container. The score pattern is particularly useful for cartons where the closure assembly has a flange which may touch or overlap with one of the walls of the front face panel of the assembled carton and respective portion of the carton blank.

An expandable member is configured to expand into a gap between the adaptor and the fill nozzle to form a seal between the nozzle interface and the fill nozzle.

Abstract: A system, method, and process of for packaging liquid product into cartons using an automated packaging system and more specifically methods of enclosing the packaging system and routing conditioned air over the cartons is presented. More specifically, a carton magazine assembly for collecting plastic coated paper carton blanks prior to sanitization, assembly, filling, and sealing includes a magazine cover that can be opened to insert additional carton blanks into the packaging system as necessary. The magazine cover has an integrated air manifold that directs pressurized conditioned air over the carton blanks towards suction ports. The suction ports collect the air with potential contaminants and the filters the air prior to ejecting it away from the vicinity of the packaging system.
