Abstract: A template is created for use in a wordprocessing application to allow XML identifiers to be assigned to content of a wordprocessing document created using the template. The template is created by creating hidden variables in a template, each hidden variable having a name and a value. Each hidden variable is named with a naming string wherein each naming string comprises an XML identifier. In use of the template, information can be input using a wordprocessing application to provide a value to each said hidden variable, the value corresponding to the content associated with the XML identifier. The method and template are particularly useful in MS (Microsoft®) Word.
