    Abstract: A tool is disclosed in which components can be grasped and secured using a single actuation motion. A mechanical system converts a single actuation motion into sequential motions at least in part mutually orthogonal. The advantages of this system are one-handed operation and ability to accommodate variations in dimensions of the components to be secured in the tool. A particular device is disclosed which is used in the handling of human prosthesis components during surgery.
