Abstract: A system and method for providing distributed cross-enterprise portals is disclosed. In one form, a distributed portal to portal system includes at least one supplier portal operable to provide communication between a plurality of networks and at least one encapsulated component operably associated with the at least one supplier portal. The system further includes at least one user portal operable to receive a plurality of distributed encapsulated components. The encapsulated components may further include a global identifier operable to globally identify the distributed component.
