Patents Assigned to Express Card and Label Co., Inc.
  • Patent number: 8414994
Abstract: A note-carried liquid pack for application on an article by machine includes a base note layer with printed indicia on a top note face. The note-carried liquid pack also includes first and second fluid-impermeable, substantially transparent laminate layers overlying the base note layer. A first adhesive secures the first laminate layer to the base note layer, and a second adhesive secures the second laminate layer to the first laminate layer along an endless adhesive boundary. The endless adhesive boundary surrounds a central portion devoid of adhesive, in which the laminate layers define a liquid-holding pocket therebetween. A substantially transparent liquid is disposed within the pocket to be sealed therein so long as at least portions of the laminate layers adjacent the pocket remain secured to one another. The printed indicia is viewable through the laminate layers and through the pocket.

  • Patent number: 8226535
Abstract: A label product in web form has alternating, oppositely indented creases in the liner of the product to produce a fan-folded stack having alternating, reversely folded plies. Each crease is substantially, if not entirely, perforation-free to maximize the strength of the liner at the fold lines. The product is preferably produced on a narrow web press in a creasing station that includes a stack of rolls wherein a first die roll is on the bottom of the stack, a second die roll is on the top of the stack, and a pair of base rolls are located in the middle of the stack between the die rolls. A blade on each die roll cooperates with a cushion on the corresponding base roll to produce a crease during every other rotation of the die roll, each of the base rolls having a smaller circumference than its corresponding die roll.

  • Publication number: 20090058073
Abstract: A web label product comprises a series of folded labels releasably attached to an elongated liner so that the labels may be peeled off at high speeds and applied to a line of fast-moving web material, individual publications such as newspaper sections or magazines, or other articles. The folded labels are directly adhered to the liner without the use of an intermediate base carrier label and are correspondingly adapted for direct application to the articles without an intermediate base carrier label. A number of different embodiments are presented disclosing variations in the way of folding the labels and releasably maintaining them in such folded condition.

  • Patent number: 6283024
Abstract: A central impression printing press (20) utilizes a plurality of quick change print stations (100, 200, 300) to increase safety and print quality. The print stations (100, 200, 300) include movable carriages (102, 202, 302) which mount anilox rolls (40) and meter rolls (38). The carriages (102, 202, 302) roll on guide track assemblies (104, 204, 304) and are locked in operative positions by lock mechanisms (106, 206, 306) utilizing lock arms (1100, 316) with progressive engagement surfaces (1106, 318). The carriages (102, 202, 203) have anilox roll mounts (132) and mounting slots (134) which allow the anilox rolls (40) and meter rolls (38), respectively, to be simply lifted off the carriages (102, 202, 203). The anilox rolls (40) are driven by engagement of a shear pin (160) which shears off if foreign matter becomes caught in the rolls. The press (20) also uses an upstream doctor blade (1126) used on the upstream print station (102).
