Patent number: 11950822Abstract: A fracture treatment system can include a pair of implants cross-pinned into the medullary canal of a bone, guided by at least one guide wire with at least two diameters. The system allows for more accurate sizing of the length of implants needed to achieve bicortical purchase for enhanced stability, as well as anti-rotation of the fracture site. The more accurate sizing and placement of the cross-pinned implants additionally allow both ends of the implants to recess beneath or be flush with the outer surface of the bone, which can reduce the risk of infection. The guide wire can allow the implants to be inserted using a cannulated technique for easier surgical procedure and better outcome, with the implants having sufficient wall thickness for the desired length to achieve bicortical purchase while keeping the shaft outer diameter of the implant to be similar to a diameter of the guide wire.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: ExsoMed CorporationInventors: Lloyd P. Patent number: 11413155Abstract: The present invention relates to a crescent or tri-corner shaped orthopedic plate with at least a first and a second end, and generally coextensive top and bottom surfaces joined directly or indirectly by an edge. The plate includes a plurality of fixation holes the first end of the plate and a second end of the plate that receives locking screws and intermediate the two holes, the plate includes a recess that defines a screw hole edge at an angle relative to the top surface of the plate so as to receive and support a screw in the recess. The invention further relates to a method of fusion using the plate and a clamp designed for the method.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2019Date of Patent: August 16, 2022Assignee: Exsomed CorporationInventors: Martin Boyer, Andrew Leither, Kathleen McKeon, Kulvinder Sachar, Michael Zwolinski

Patent number: 11185357Abstract: A distal radius plate according to the invention is ergonomically formed to be more easily centered on the radius bone. The distal radius plate has two main portions: an elongated portion that attaches to the body of the radius and a distal radius portion that attaches to the lower most, wider portion of the radius bone. Because of its ergonomic shape the distal radius plate is fast and easy to center on the radius and install. In another embodiment, the distal radius plate may include a metal support that is partially or entirely covered with a plastic to eliminate or reduce detailed machining of the metal, which reduces part cost and manufacturing time.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 2019Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: ExsoMed CorporationInventors: Lloyd P. Patent number: 11147604Abstract: A device and method for stabilizing a broken bone while it heals is disclosed. The device preferably has a (a) first (or proximal) section with a driving head, threads and a first diameter, and (b) second (or distal) section that is threaded and has a second diameter. The first section is preferably greater in diameter than the second section so that greater torque can be applied to tighten the device. The device may include one or more self-tapping structures to lessen the torque required to screw it into a bone.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2016Date of Patent: October 19, 2021Assignee: ExsoMed CorporationInventors: Lloyd P.
