Patents Assigned to ExxonMobil Oil Corporation
  • Patent number: 6324867
Abstract: A natural gas liquefaction system and process wherein excess refrigeration available in a typical natural gas liquefaction system is used to cool the inlet air to gas turbines in the system to thereby improve the overall efficiency of the system. A cooler is positioned in front of the air inlet of each gas turbine; and coolant (e.g. water) is flowed through each of the coolers to cool the ambient air as it flows into the gas turbines. The water, in turn, is cooled with propane taken from a refrigerant circuit in the system which, in turn, is used to initially cool the natural gas which is to be liquefied.

  • Patent number: 6322883
Abstract: A uniaxially heat-shrinkable, biaxially oriented, multilayer film having a polypropylene containing core layer and at least one high density polyethylene containing skin layer adjacent the core layer. The core layer contains isotactic polypropylene and a modifier which reduces the crystallization or crystallinity of the polypropylene by increasing chain imperfections or reducing isotacticity of the polypropylene resin. Examples of materials which are useful as modifiers include atactic polypropylene, syndiotactic polypropylene, ethylene-propylene-butene-1 terpolymer, polybutene-1, and linear low density polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 6322894
Abstract: The present invention relates to a matte surface film comprising: (a) a base layer comprising high density polyethylene (HDPE); and (b) a matte surface layer comprising a blend of two or more incompatible polyolefins. In preferred embodiments, the matte surface layer comprises (i) a propylene homopolymer or propylene interpolymer and (ii) an ethylene homopolymer or ethylene interpolymer. The film possesses easy and improved cuttability and may be used for packaging and label applications.

  • Patent number: 6319881
Abstract: The invention provides dispersants and dispersant viscosity index improvers which include polymers of conjugated dienes which have been hydrogenated, functionalized, optionally modified, and post treated. The dispersant substances include a copolymer of two different conjugated dienes. The polymers are selectively hydrogenated to produce polymers which have highly controlled amounts of unsaturation, permitting highly selective functionalization. The polymers may be blended with lower molecular weight components. Also provided are lubricant fluids, such as mineral and synthetic oils, which have been modified in their dispersancy and/or viscometric properties by means of the dispersant substances of the invention. The addition of minor amounts of lower molecular weight components improves compatibility and reduces haze. Also provided are methods of modifying the dispersancy and/or viscometric properties of lubricating fluids such as mineral and synthetic lubricating oils.

  • Patent number: 6316546
Abstract: A class of relatively high molecular weight, high density ethylene polymers (HMW-HDPE) is disclosed capable of being formed into thin films of high strength, such polymers having a density of at least about 0.925 g/cc, a flow index (I21) no highier than about 15 g/10 min., a melt flow ratio (MFR) of at least about 65, and a dynamic elasticity at 0.1 rad./sec. of no higher than about 0.7 at a corresponding complex viscosity at 0.1 rad./sec. no highier than about 14E5, i.e., about 14×105 poises. The ethylene polymer is a bimodal blend of relatively high molecular weight (HMW) and low molecular weight (LMW) ethylene polymers.

  • Patent number: 6312825
Abstract: A multi layer film having enhanced barrier properties with respect to oxygen and water vapor transmission as well as an excellent surface for film laminating, printing and coating processes is provided. The multi layer film includes a polyolefin core layer having a wax therein, a first surface layer including a polyolefin copolymer or terpolymer layer, and a second surface layer including a polar layer having ester functionality. Multi layer films according to the present invention are particularly useful as packaging films for food products, and are particularly well suited for subsequent laminating, printing or coating operations.
