Abstract: The invention relates to a process for forming a low-sulfur motor gasoline and the product made therefrom. In one embodiment, process involves separating a catalytically cracked naphtha into at least a light fraction boiling below about 165° F. and a heavy fraction boiling above about 165° F. The light fraction is treated to remove sulfur by a non-hydrotreating method, and the heavy fraction is hydrotreated to remove sulfur to a level of less than about 100 ppm.

Abstract: A premium synthetic lubricant having antiwear properties comprises a synthetic isoparaffinic hydrocarbon base stock and an effective amount of at least one antiwear additive. The antiwear additive is preferably at least one of a metal phosphate, a metal dialkyldithiophosphate, a metal dithiophosphate a metal thiocarbamate, a metal dithiocarbamate, an ethoxylated amine dialkyldithiophosphate and an ethoxylated amine dithiobenzoate. Metal dialkyldithiophosphates are preferred, particularly zincdialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP). The base stock is derived from a waxy, Fischer-Tropsch synthesized hydrocarbon feed fraction comprising hydrocarbons having an initial boiling point in the range of about 650-750° F., by a process which comprises hydroisomerizing the feed and dewaxing the isomerate. The lubricant may also contain hydrocarbonaceous and synthetic base stock material in admixture with the Fischer-Tropsch derived base stock.

Abstract: Diesel fuels or blending stocks having excellent lubricity, oxidative stability and high cetane number are produced from non-shifting Fischer-Tropsch processes by separating the Fischer-Tropsch product into a lighter and heavier fractions, e.g., at about 700° F., subjecting the 700° F.+ fraction to hydro-treating, and combining the 700° F.− portion of the hydrotreated product with the lighter fraction that has not been hydrotreated.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and dual reactor system for hydrotreating a wide cut cat naphtha stream comprising heavy cat naphtha (HCN) and intermediate cat naphtha (ICN). Accordingly, a HCN fraction is hydrotreated under non-selective hydrotreating conditions and an ICN fraction is hydrotreated under selective hydrotreating conditions. The hydrotreated HCN and ICN effluents may be conducted to heat exchangers to pre-heat the ICN feed, obviating the need for a furnace.

Abstract: A hydrocarbon wax product from a HCS slurry comprising liquid synthesis product and catalyst particles is purified by circulating the slurry from a synthesis zone with a first temperature through a treatment zone with a second temperature in which a hydrogen-containing treatment gas contacts the slurry. The gas treatment removes impurities from the hydrocarbon wax product and also removes catalyst de-activating species which may be present in the slurry. Purified wax product is separated and removed from the treated slurry via wax withdrawal means. This avoids or minimizes the need for further treating the wax product. Remaining treated slurry may be returned to the synthesis zone.

Abstract: The present invention provides a CO2-selective membrane process that is useful for the purification and/or water gas shift reaction of a reformed gas, generated from on-board reforming of a fuel, e.g., hydrocarbon, gasoline, diesel, methanol or natural gas, to hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles. Another embodiment of the present invention is directed toward a composition comprising a hydrophylic polymer and at least one ammonium halide salt, the ammonium halide salt being present in an amount ranging from about 10 to 80 wt % based on the total weight of the composition. The composition is suitable in formation of a membrane useful for separating CO2 from a CO2-containing gas, particularly from an on-board reformed gas for the CO2-selective membrane process.

Abstract: A gas conversion process in which both hydrocarbons and hydrogen are produced from a synthesis gas feed which comprises a mixture of H2 and CO, uses hydrogen from a portion of the feed for one or more of (i) hydrocarbon synthesis catalyst rejuvenation and (ii) hydroconversion upgrading of at least a portion of the synthesized hydrocarbons. Hydrogen is produced from a slipstream of the synthesis gas fed into the hydrocarbon synthesis reactor by one or more of (i) physical separation means such as pressure swing adsorption and (ii) chemical means such as a water gas shift reactor. If a shift reactor is used due to insufficient capacity of the synthesis gas generator, physical separation means such as pressure swing adsorption will still be used to separate a pure stream of hydrogen from the shift reactor gas effluent.
