  • Patent number: 11938861
Abstract: An auxiliary lighting system for a helmet operable with a lighting system of a vehicle comprising a vehicle brake light, comprised of a helmet portion and a vehicle portion. The helmet portion is comprised of a helmet lighting unit, a microcontroller in communication with the helmet brake light, and a helmet transceiver in communication with the microcontroller. The vehicle portion is comprised of a supporting body, a vehicle transceiver, and an accelerometer joined to the supporting body and in communication with the microcontroller. The microcontroller is programmed with an algorithm such that the microcontroller receives a signal indicative of the relative position of the accelerometer, determines the performance capability of the accelerometer in detecting acceleration of the vehicle with respect to the Earth based upon the signal indicative of the position of the accelerometer, and presents an indication of accelerometer performance capability.

  • Patent number: 11299090
Abstract: A remote lighting system for a safety helmet operable with a vehicle lighting system. The system includes a vehicle portion and a helmet portion comprising a helmet brake light; a microcontroller in communication with the brake light; and a helmet transceiver in communication with the microcontroller. The vehicle portion includes a vehicle transceiver in wireless communication with the helmet transceiver; a gate in communication with the vehicle transceiver, and under a condition when a signal is received from the vehicle transceiver, operable to electrically connect the battery to the brake light of the vehicle lighting system; and an accelerometer in communication with the vehicle transceiver, and operable to send a signal indicative of vehicle acceleration to the vehicle transceiver. When a threshold level of deceleration is exceeded, the microcontroller sends a signal to the transceivers and the gate, causing a brake light of the vehicle lighting system to be illuminated.

  • Patent number: 5593045
Abstract: A display system has removable fixtures for supporting eyeglasses, eyeglass frames and similar manufactured articles in a display configuration on a substantially vertical display panel. A fixture has a forward end adapted to hold the eyeglasses, eyeglass frames or other article in an attractive display position and a rear end adapted to secure the fixture releasably to an aperture in the display panel. The rear end of the fixture has a face plate that contacts the front surface of the display panel around the periphery of the aperture, a pair of opposed side lugs and a flanged top clip dimensioned to fit in the aperture and engage the periphery of the aperture and the rear surface of the display panel. The fixture is attached by inserting the flanged top clip and pressing rearwardly until the side lugs engage the display panel. The side lugs can have inclined bottom edges that bear against the bottom edge of the aperture, forcing the top clip against the opposite edge.

  • Patent number: 5280416
Abstract: A lighting device is operative for use as a bookmark and as a reading light. The body of the lighting device is constructed in a substantially flat configuration wherein it can easily be placed between the pages of a book to mark a position therein. The device further includes a slide arm having a light source mounted at the end thereof. The slide arm is slidably movable outwardly of the body wherein the lamps are automatically turned on and positioned over the body. For use as a reading light, the body of the device is placed between pages of the book, or between one of the covers and the adjacent pages of the book, wherein the lights thereof are positioned substantially over the open pages of the book that are being read.
