Abstract: A safety mechanism for a winch assembly when storing a load, in a raised or stored position, such as a tire under a vehicle, or a boat on a trailer. The safety mechanism maintains a load in a retained position using a latching device that is activated by a lever when a cranking member engages a detent portion proximate the winch.

Abstract: This invention relates to an adjustable vibration damper for absorbing energy causing vibratory noise in automotive vehicles, and particularly to a damper capable of adjustment to absorb a range of frequency. The damper comprises an inertial weight of a mass suitable to be effective as a tuned energy absorber having at least one suitably placed aperture therethrough to receive a frictionally interfacing mass of readily compressible elastomeric material.
