    Abstract: The present invention relates to a family of N-acylhydrazonic compounds structurally derived from 1-methyl-1H-imidazole-2-carboxaldehyde, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and the use of said compounds to prevent and/or treat amyloid (such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and type 2 diabetes) and non-amyloid (such as cataracts) degenerative aggregopathies These compounds act as attenuators of the metal-protein interaction, preventing and/or decreasing protein oligomerization through competition with the target peptide or protein for the binding of physiological metal ions and, possibly, by modulating the protein-protein interaction itself.

In one embodiment of the invention, there is provided a process for the analysis and conversion of EEG signals obtained from the brain into movement commands through electric and/or mechanical devices. The process of the present invention provides substantial advantages over the similar systems/techniques known in the art, such as a 91% average hit rate, obtained in attempts to control a mobile robot. In other embodiment of the invention, there is provided an apparatus comprising: means for obtaining brain signals; an electroencephalograph (EEG); and means for transducing said signals into functional commands useful in several applications. Said means for transducing mental signals is the core of the invention and provides a number of technical advantages over the similar systems/techniques known in the art of identifying mental activities.

The contributions of the mechanisms of heat transfer at the interface between the substrate and the cryogenic film and the radiative feedback coming from the combustion in the lowest region of the thermal plume and the pool are taken into account. The modeling provides a scheme for the development of dimensionless scale parameters, allows correlation and extrapolation of the length or height of the visible flame with the slope of said flame, the emissive power of its surface, and mass flow rate of vaporization of the liquid fuel in the pool.
