  • Patent number: 6506266
Abstract: A composition for steel used for tires or solid wheels of rail vehicles, which composition provides improved properties, in terms of wear, crack susceptibility, ability to withstand thermal loads, homogenous microstructural properties and suitability for high dynamic loads, as compared to standard steels used for tires or solid wheels of rail vehicles. The steel is a modification of AISI S2 steel previously only used for antifriction bearings. The elements of the composition and their presence by percentage of total mass of the steel and ratios of the presence of various elements are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6484582
Abstract: A rolling bearing which has as rolling bearing components one bearing race with a first running surface, a second bearing race with a second running surface opposed to the first surface, and rolling elements arranged between the running surfaces. At least one sensing unit is integrated into the rolling bearing components. The sensing unit can be interrogated by radio via antennas or can be connected to an interrogator by a cable. The sensing unit uses at least one component operating on the SAW or BAW principle to sense changes in length and/or changes in temperature in the material of the rolling bearing component and sends the result of the measurement after the arrival of a radio signal via the antenna or via a cable.

  • Patent number: 6416228
Abstract: A rolling-contact bearing for a shaft journal wherein the outside diameter of the shaft journal is thermally insulated relative to the shaft through which a heat transfer medium flows. The bore of the inner race on the shaft journal is provided with a ceramic layer predominantly of zirconium oxide and a smaller among of yttrium oxide to reduce the heat transfer from the shaft journal to the rolling-contact bearing. The inner race also has lateral surfaces toward the elements securing the bearing on the shaft journal. Those lateral surfaces may be provided with a ceramic layer as well.

  • Patent number: 6364533
Abstract: A metal window cage for a rolling bearing and supporting cylinder rollers. The cage having at least one ladder-shaped bent segment which is bent around to define the window cage. A joint is formed at adjacent cage segment ends which are interlocked in a dovetail shape lock at the segment ends. A connecting element connects the segment ends. The crosspieces at intervals along the cage segment and the connecting element at the joint are encapsulated by being molded over. Cylinder roller retaining clips are provided at the connecting element at the segment ends at the joint and also at the crosspieces between neighboring windows for cylinder rollers. The clips project radially inwardly to prevent the rollers from leaving the cage prior to installation of the cage and rollers in a bearing. The crosspieces and clips there are also molded over to retain them at the cage.

  • Patent number: 6296395
Abstract: A self-aligning roller bearing includes an external ring with one curved external track, an internal ring with two curved internal tracks, two rows of rollers disposed between the external and internal rings, and a guide ring. The guide ring is located between the rows of rollers and is preferably configured as an circular annular disk. The guide ring has a rectangular cross section with the center line of the cross section running parallel to the bearing axis. The guide ring may also be dimensioned in such a way that the rollers are axially prestressed. The front faces of the rollers which face the guide ring are configured in a manner that the front faces only touch the guide ring at one point.

  • Patent number: 6132098
Abstract: In order to achieve precise adjustment of cylinders with a four-ring eccentric bearing for printing-machine cylinders under favorable conditions of oscillation and rotation, roller bodies (8, 9, 10) are provided between the three pairs of surfaces (5, 6, 7), which can twist with respect to one another, whereby two double-row cylindrical roller bearings (8, 9) and, as the innermost bearing, a double-row cylindrical roller bearing (10) or needle bearing is provided externally on the side of the moving bearing, and three double-row ball bearings (15, 16, 17) are provided on the side of the fixed bearing.

  • Patent number: 6102574
Abstract: In order to allow current to pass a shaft bearing of a rail vehicle an additional rolling bearing is provided on the shaft and is electrically insulated relative to the shaft bearing. The inner ring of the additional rolling bearing is seated firmly on the shaft. A gap between the exterior of the outer ring of the additional bearing and the housing of the rolling mounting is provided with an insulating bush. The gap on insulating bush is bridged by an electrically insulated connector extending from outside the bearing housing and extending between the bearing housing and the outer ring of the additional rolling bearing.

  • Patent number: 5749661
Abstract: A separator or cage for an antifriction bearing, particularly a ball bearing, wherein the separator starts as a flat strip with an edge strip on one side, and webs projecting laterally from the edge strip and defining pockets for balls between neighboring webs. The strip is bendable at reduced thickness areas along its length to form a ring for installation of the separator between the annular bearing rings. Radially projecting elastic holding noses defined on the surface of the strip at the webs engage at a race of one of the bearing rings and particularly behind a shoulder at one of the races for preventing axial emergence of the separator from between the bearing rings.

  • Patent number: 5702187
Abstract: An antifriction bearing having one or two rows of rolling bodies has at least one guide ring guided on the outside ring race for guidance of the rollers and/or of the separator. The guide ring comprises two partial circumference ring segments which are arranged loosely between or adjacent one or each of the rows of rolling bodies and are held in form-locked manner in the spherical surface of the outer ring due to resilience of the ring segments.
