  • Patent number: 5957030
Abstract: An actuating cylinder (2), especially for a hydraulic clutch operation device in a motor vehicle, is disclosed, having a piston unit (6) arranged in a housing (4) and guided via a guide sleeve (8) which is permanently connected to the housing, wherein the piston unit can be displaced by means of a thrust bolt (10). A thrust bolt head (12) is permanently attached directly to the thrust bolt and its relative position with regard to the thrust bolt determines the working stroke (H) of the piston unit, which is done at the time of assembly of the actuating cylinder already. The thrust bolt head is slid onto the thrust bolt and the working stroke between the guide sleeve and the thrust bolt head is adjusted before the thrust bolt head is attached to the thrust bolt. The actuating cylinder and its assembly are simplified according to this invention, so that subsequent work in adjusting the working stroke can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5924526
Abstract: An inside shoe drum brake, particularly for motor vehicles, is disclosed which comprises a support arrangement for the brake shoes which can be pressed by means of an actuation device against the brake drum, and which has a brake anchor plate carrying the support arrangement and the actuation device as well as comprising an area for the attachment to a wheel carrier. According to the invention, a guide element is provided which is engaged in the axial direction of the brake with the brake shoes and which is guided, in a sliding manner, on the attachment area or on the actuation device. Thus a simply designed and lightweight inside shoe drum brake is provided which has an optimized noise behavior with respect to brake squeal.

  • Patent number: 5850898
Abstract: A method and a device for the hydraulic actuation of a clutch operatively connected to a clutch receiver cylinder (6), especially for automobiles, are disclosed, in which, in a servo circuit (S), a servo pressure is generated, whichserves for the hydraulic governing of a clutch transmitter cylinder (2), in order to generate in a pressure circuit (D) a working pressure, which is applied to the clutch receiver cylinder (6), oris applied directly to the clutch receiver cylinder (6), in order to create there a force required for disengaging the clutch. According to the invention, the servo pressure for disengaging and engaging the clutch is adjusted in defined manner in the servo circuit (S), for which purpose the servo circuit (S) comprises a proportional valve (8, 8'). As a result, with technical equipment at low cost, an automated actuation with improved response and operational behaviour of the clutch is made possible.

  • Patent number: 5836235
Abstract: In order to reduce the weight and manufacturing cost of a piston for a hydraulic actuating cylinder, the piston, the piston rod and the external reinforcement cap are combined to form a unitary integral part. The unitary part is advantageously a single extrusion product. The piston is shaped so as to be able both to slide along the length of the inner cylinder wall, and to tilt upon deflection or lateral displacement of the piston rod in the bore of the cylinder, while still maintaining its hydraulic seal.

  • Patent number: 5826953
Abstract: A braking system is disclosed that has a manually-actuatable master cylinder having two pressure chambers. A first pressure chamber hydraulically controls a flow control valve through which the pressure medium flows during servo-braking in order to adjust its regulating cross-section to produce a defined dynamic pressure that is applied to a first piston/cylinder arrangement, connected to the flow control valve, of a brake application element to produce a braking force. A second pressure chamber can be connected to a second piston of a brake application element so that a braking force can be applied to the brake application element if the servo-force fails. Also, instead of the second piston/cylinder arrangement, a separate separator piston/cylinder arrangement can be provided that is inserted between the second pressure chamber and the piston/cylinder arrangement. As a result, sufficient braking force is produced both in servo-force braking and if the servo-force fails.

  • Patent number: 5816046
Abstract: A method of suppressing vibrations of an actuation element of a hydraulic force transmission apparatus, especially a hydraulic clutch actuation system in an automobile, and an auxiliary vibrator for carrying out the method, are disclosed. The force transmission apparatus possesses a transmitter cylinder connected to the actuation element, and also a receiver cylinder connected to that cylinder by a liquid column, by which receiver cylinder a low-frequency excitation vibration is transmitted to the liquid column, which propagates in the latter as a low-frequency pressure pulsation.

  • Patent number: 5816668
Abstract: A valve apparatus for a non-muscular-energy-assisted brake circuit of a hydraulic brake system is disclosed. The apparatus has a restriction valve whose valve body in a controlled manner limits a restriction gap through which a hydraulic fluid is forced in non-muscular-energy-assisted braking operation in order to establish a defined dynamic pressure in a pressure chamber in which a valve plunger having a through-hole is provided. The dynamic pressure can be applied to a tensioner. If the non-muscular-energy assistance fails, the valve plunger can be closed to generate a residual braking pressure in the pressure chamber using the valve body when the through-hole is closed.

  • Patent number: 5335585
Abstract: A master cylinder for use on a hydraulically actuated clutch or brake system of a motor vehicle, or for the like uses. The master cylinder comprises a cylindrical housing, and a piston which is axially displaceable along the housing, a piston rod in the housing. The piston rod is connected with the piston to be movable together free of play, but they are swingable with respect to each other, whereby the piston rod may swing with respect to the piston in the housing. The connection between the piston and the piston rod comprises a generally ball shaped head on the piston rod, which is held between partial shells in the housing which are shaped to partially surround and form lock to the piston rod head. The piston has a neck with receiving grooves in it. The partial shells have projections which engage in the grooves in the neck. A tubular piston-shaft sleeve in the housing is axially shiftable in the housing and is fastened to the piston.
