Patents Assigned to Fairbanks Morse, LLC
  • Patent number: 10428730
Abstract: Technology is provided for a bilateral engine control system for use on a multi-cylinder opposed piston engine. The system includes first and second sets of injectors, each set mountable on first and second sides of an engine. Each injector is in fluid communication with a corresponding cylinder of the engine. First and second engine control units are each connected to a respective set of injectors. First and second crankshaft speed sensors are connected to respective engine control units. The first engine control unit independently controls the first set of injectors based on a first speed signal and the second engine control unit independently controls the second set of injectors based on a second speed signal. The first engine control unit and the second engine control unit are configured to activate corresponding injectors of the first and second sets of injectors at substantially the same time.

  • Patent number: 10428780
Abstract: Technology is provided for a fuel injector mounting system for mounting an injector to an engine cylinder liner. The system includes an injector adapter having an adapter body including a first end portion threaded for engagement with a cylinder liner and an injector port formed in the adapter body opposite the first end portion. The injector port includes a plurality of concentric bores configured to receive the proximal end portion of an injector. A flange extends transversely from the adapter body and a collar engages a portion of the injector and connects to the flange to retain the injector in the adapter. A transverse passageway extends through a sidewall of the adapter body and intersects the injector port and an annular fitting is disposed on the injector adapter for fluid communication with the transverse passageway. An injector support bracket attaches a distal end portion of the injector to the engine.

  • Patent number: 10240555
Abstract: Technology is provided for a fluid conduit assembly for connecting orthogonally oriented connections. The assembly includes a first tube arcuately extending from a first proximal end portion to a first distal end portion. The first proximal end portion includes a first fitting connectable to a first fluid connection. A second tube arcuately extends from a second proximal end portion to a second distal end portion. The second proximal end portion includes a second fitting connectable to a second fluid connection that is orthogonally oriented with respect to the first fluid connection. A coupling connects the first distal end portion and the second distal end portion. The first rigid tube is rotatably positionable with respect to the first fluid connection whereby a first distal axis and a second distal axis are substantially coaxially aligned when the first fitting and second fitting are connected to the first and second fluid connections, respectively.

  • Patent number: 10190528
Abstract: Technology is provided for a cylinder with a carbon scraper for use in an opposed piston engine. The cylinder includes a cylinder body having first and second piston bores extending along a central axis for reciprocation of corresponding first and second pistons therein. A chamber bore is located between the first and second piston bores and first and second annular grooves are located on opposite ends of the chamber bore. The chamber bore extends between and is inclusive of a top-dead-center position of a top land of each of the first and second pistons. The first and second piston bores have a piston diameter and the chamber bore has a chamber diameter smaller than the piston diameter. For example, the chamber diameter can be between about 0.004 and about 0.020 inches smaller than the piston diameter.
