  • Patent number: 5879125
Abstract: A battery changing system in combination with a battery holder is provided. The battery changing system comprises a mobile frame, and a battery lift assembly including a pair of lifting arms forming an opening for receiving the battery holder. Mounting structure movably connects battery lift assembly to the mobile frame. Actuating structure moves the battery lift assembly between an initial position and an operative position wherein the battery holder is raised to a selected elevation above the ground. Elongated releasably lockable safety retaining structure is attached to the battery lift assembly. The battery holder is constructed and arranged to be received in the opening and includes first engaging structure. Each of the lifting arms includes an upwardly facing engaging surface.

Abstract: A battery changing system in combination with a battery holder is provided. The battery changing system includes a mobile frame, a battery lift assembly including a pair of lifting arms forming an opening for receiving the battery holder. Mounting structure pivotally connects battery lift assembly to an end portion of the frame. Actuating structure extends between the battery lift assembly and the end portion of the frame to pivot the battery lift assembly between an initial position engaging the battery holder positioned on the ground and an operative position wherein the battery holder is raised to a selected elevation above the ground. The battery holder includes hanger structure fixed to opposing sidewalls thereof. Each hanger structure includes a rearwardly extending wall defining a rearward edge and a downwardly facing fulcrum surface disposed forwardly of the rearwardly extending wall.

  • Patent number: 5634545
Abstract: An apparatus for use in a conveyor train for continuously conveying a supply of coal provided by a machine working at a mine face to a remote floor conveyor is provided. The apparatus includes at least one propelled conveyor assembly which may be pivotally connected to a combination of other like propelled conveyor assemblies and conventional bridge conveyor assemblies to form an articulated conveyor train ending from the machine to the remote floor conveyor. Each conveyor assembly has a conveying mechanism, with a receiving section and a discharge section that transports the supply of coal from the receiving section to the discharge section. The propelled conveyor assembly includes first and second crawler units disposed below and rotatably mounted to the propelled conveyor assembly.

  • Patent number: 4887868
Abstract: A continuous mining machine comprising a forward cutter assembly connected for horizontal pivotal movements with respect to a rearward assembly mounted on the endless track assembly. The cutter assembly includes a central frame and a pair of said frames mounted on the central frame for independent pivotal movement about a pair of axes generally parallel with each other extending in a longitudinal direction corresponding generally to the forward direction of movement of the forward assembly with respect to the mine face. An elongated shaft is rotatalby mounted on each of the side frames so as to extend longitudinally from a position adjacent the rearward portion of the associated side frame forwardly thereof to an extent such that a forward end portion of each shaft extends forwardly of the associated side frame. A speed reducing units is mounted on each side frame between the associated shaft and the associated pivotal axis in driving relation with respect to the rearward portion of the associated shaft.
