  • Patent number: 7261328
Abstract: A push button latch release assembly includes a push button actuator and a latch cord which extends through the push button actuator and connects at its opposite ends to release arms of respective rotary spring latches. The push button actuator includes a housing having a base and a tubular barrel, and a button cylinder which is axially movable in the barrel. The button cylinder includes a shaft which extends through a hole in the base of the housing and the base mounts two posts which are located on opposite sides of the shaft. The latch cord extends through respective guide channels in the posts and a passageway through the shaft. Pressing the button cylinder moves the shaft so that the latch cord is extended between the posts and the ends of the latch cord are drawn in, releasing the release arms.

  • Patent number: 7237812
Abstract: A paddle handle latch release device of a spring latch system includes a paddle handle member pivotally mounted in a pan housing, the paddle handle member including an actuating lever which extends below a floor of the pan housing; a spider member rotatably mounted to the underside of the floor, the spider member including latch arms extending from a hub and an operating arm in contact with the actuating lever; and a torsion spring which biases the operating arm against the actuating lever; the spider being rotated from an inactive positioning by the actuating lever when the paddle handle member is manually rotated from a lowered positioning to a lifted positioning, and the torsion spring returning the spider member to an inactive positioning and the paddle handle member back to a lowered positioning when the paddle handle member is released.

  • Patent number: 6976375
Abstract: A door latch includes pan or attachment to a flat surface of a door adjacent a door frame; an actuation subassembly which includes a handle on one side of the pan, a turn cam on an opposite side of the pan and a handle shaft which connects the handle with the turn cam through a hole in the pan, the turn cam including two rectilinear members extending in parallel with the handle shaft and away from the pan; and a latch subassembly which includes a latch element having a latch body with holes therein through which the rectilinear members extend and a latch arm, and an adjustment member to which the latch element is rotatably attached, the adjustment member moving the latch element toward and away from the pan and to adjust its positioning relative to the pan.

  • Patent number: 6606889
Abstract: A lever latch, for releasably latching a door to a corresponding door frame, includes a housing having a handle pivotally mounted therein and rotatable between opened and closed positions. In the handle closed position, a bolt mounted to the handle engages the door frame, and in the handle opened position, the bolt is disengaged from the door frame. The housing includes a trigger pivotally mounted therein, and pivotable between a first position to retain the handle in the closed position and a second position to release the handle to the opened position. A pawl is rotatably mounted to a lock cylinder on the housing and rotatable between locked and unlocked positions to allow the trigger to pivot to the second position and to prevent the trigger from being pivoted to the second position, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6474119
Abstract: A pop-up handle assembly includes a planar mounting panel which may be integral with a housing. The assembly also includes dual longitudinal bores generally parallel to one another and offset from each other. A handle that rotationally drives an interconnected shaft is carried by one of the bores to operate between locked and open positions. When in locked position, the handle is prevented from being rotated. When in open position, the handle extends outwardly from the housing and can rotate approximately 90 degrees to thereby drivingly rotate the shaft, which allows access to an enclosed space. A lock cylinder is carried by the other bore and rotates therein between locked and unlocked positions. When in locked position, the cylinder is not depressible. When in the unlocked position, the cylinder functions as a depressible push button which engages a retainer member to release the handle from locked position.
