  • Patent number: 7306462
Abstract: A removable gas supply for a weapon simulator, wherein the gas system cycles the bolt or slide of the firearm to provide recoil, actuate a hammer/trigger mechanism and provide realism of the original weapon functions. The weapon simulator has a housing defining a piston chamber and a piston positioned in said chamber and connected to the bolt. The simulator also includes a valve chamber in the housing connected with said regulated gas supply and said bolt, and a recoil valve positioned in the valve chamber to control the release of gas from said regulated gas supply to said piston chamber to generate recoil in the weapon simulator.

  • Patent number: 7291014
Abstract: A weapon simulator assembly having a wireless module provided in a simulated weapon to maximize the freedom of movement for the user and to provide complete diagnostics from electronic sensors for users of the firearms training simulator. The wireless module is embedded in the simulated weapon used in the simulator assembly and connected to various sensors to obtain operational information. The wireless data communication link is a wireless module using a frequency hopping spread spectrum technology such that the wireless module can fit in a small firearm simulator, such as a handgun or chemical spray simulator.

  • Patent number: 7201483
Abstract: An apparatus for providing both day vision simulations and night vision simulations includes a projector that seamlessly provides both night and daytime training modes. The projector includes two independent light sources, with an embedded night vision filter affixed inside the projector proximate one of the light sources to achieve the night training mode. The operator will select one light source according to the mode desired (daytime training mode or nighttime training mode). Each light source may easily be selected, and the light paths from both of the light sources may have a common path when exiting the projector for efficient operation between modes.

  • Patent number: 7197973
Abstract: A bolt locking assembly for a weapon simulator, the weapon simulator having a bolt affixed to a firearm housing providing recoil to the user. The bolt is connected to a piston housed in a piston chamber inside the housing. A gas supply provides a compressed gas or fluid into the piston chamber to generate movement and recoil of the piston. After the weapon simulator has been fired a predetermined number of times, the bolt locking assembly will obstruct operation of the bolt and piston. The bolt locking assembly includes a lock actuator port engaging the piston chamber, a locking apparatus positioned within the housing proximate the bolt, and a lock channel between said lock actuator port and said locking arm, wherein the lock channel directs gas to said locking apparatus to actuate said locking apparatus and fix the bolt in place.

  • Patent number: 7140387
Abstract: A regulated gas supply system having a body defining a pressurized gas reservoir connected to a high-pressure regulator that regulates the high pressure gas from the gas reservoir to disperse the gas at a desired pressure. The gas regulating assembly includes a piston chamber with a piston slidably positioned in the piston chamber, the piston chamber having a secondary chamber connected to the gas reservoir. A spring is positioned between one side of the piston and the piston chamber, with the piston including a piston channel to allow pressurized gas to flow through the piston. Pressure is developed on the piston opposite the spring that is proportional to the force of the spring, providing a balanced piston.

  • Patent number: 6059573
Abstract: A full-size mortar training device which includes full-size, simulated, propelling charges is disclosed. Both 81 mm and 60 mm mortar training devices are disclosed. The device provides realistic training on virtually all aspects of mortar firing. The device allows training in target sight acquisition and mortar positioning (elevation and azimuth), sight reacquisition due to recoil, dropping a round, adjusting the number of charges, as required, to achieve a desired zone of firing distance, adjusting the projectile fuse setting to control time of explosion, provides realistic firing sound, and allows trainees to follow procedures similar to those used with standard mortar service ammunition.

  • Patent number: 5816817
Abstract: A method and apparatus for simultaneously training multiple trainees in the use of simulated weapons, which method defines a set of image shapes and assigns each image shape to a different simulated weapon capable of generating a light beam, at a selected wavelength, having the assigned image shape. By collecting data under control conditions and evaluating a set of parameters that uniquely identifies each image shape and by comparing the resulting "control parameters" to the same set of parameters evaluated under training conditions (thereby, producing "on-line parameters") each image shape produced during a training session is identified and associated with a simulated weapon. The method enables an expanded number of trainees to be simultaneously trained, by employing the same set of image shapes produced and detected at different wavelengths.
