  • Patent number: 6572196
Abstract: The device relates to a structural part connection between two parts of a car seat, specifically a part of a car seat which is attached to a frame and a fixture part of an inclination adjusting fixture, wherein a first part is deployed with its front surface adjacent to a planar opposite surface of a second part. The first part is provided with a receiving through-opening which is formed at least up to the one of its front surface deployed opposite a rear side surface, and the second part supports at least a projecting part protruding from it, which is engaged in this receiving opening. The parts are welded to each other on the periphery of the projecting part and receiving opening. The diameter of the projecting part is enlarged in the direction toward the rear side surface. The parts are connected to each other in addition to welding also by positive locking, wherein the diameter enlargement is the result of a deformation the material or of the compression of the projecting part.

  • Publication number: 20030075963
Abstract: An automobile seat includes a seat back that is mounted on the seat body that pivots forward about a pivot axis, and two parallel seat rails on which the automobile seat is connected with the chassis so that it may be displaced longitudinally. Each of the seat rails includes base rails attached to the chassis and a slide rail that may be displaced longitudinally with respect to the base rail. The slide rail may be displaced via an electrical spindle drive that includes a drive motor, a drive spindle, and a spindle nut mounted thereon. The spindle nut is formed in two parts along the rotational axis of the drive spindle, and its parts may be moved into and out of engagement with the drive spindle via an actuation device. By means of the separation of the two parts of the spindle nut via the actuation device, they are not engaged, so that the slide rail is free to slide along the base rail.

  • Patent number: 6543851
Abstract: An adjusting mechanism for a seat includes two mechanism parts that form parts of a staggered transmission. An eccentric cam consists of an eccentric segment and two wedge segments completing this eccentric segment. The wedge segments are arranged one above the other in a radial direction, and their thicknesses increase in an opposite direction to each other. They are so tensioned by a common spring that they form an extended eccentric area under pre-tension from the spring, and are pressed against each other during rotation in such a manner that the eccentric area becomes smaller and thus the tension of the intermeshing toothed areas is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6533351
Abstract: A vehicle seat frame includes a locking device that prevents the seat frame from moving during a crash. A first spring holds an inertia-sensitive locking element and an interlocking element in a first position. In the event of a crash, the inertia-sensitive locking element swivels about an axis due to the force of inertia. Contact surfaces on the inertia-sensitive locking element and the interlocking element disengage. A second spring then pulls the interlocking element toward a guide link. A gear region on the interlocking element grips into and engages with a gear region on the guide link. The second spring maintains the tension on the gear regions, even if the force of inertia has dwindled. The locking device can be disengaged only by manually resetting the interlocking element and the inertia-sensitive locking element into the first position.

  • Publication number: 20030030312
Abstract: A locking and pivoting mechanism for a vehicle rear seat with a seat back mounted on a seat body and capable of being folded forward, the seat body may be mounted so that it may be folded forward from an approximately horizontal use position into an approximately vertical, final storage position, as well as into a final lowered position approximately parallel to the use position. In these two final positions, the seat back is folded forward, resting on the seat body. One end each of a front and a rear link is attached to the chassis, and the other end is each attached to the seat body. The upper end of the front link is attached to the seat body so that it may be displaced longitudinally, and may be affixed to the seat body by means of a first locking pawl. The lower end of the rear link may be connected with the chassis so that it may be released, and so that it may be affixed in the use position by means of a second locking pawl.

  • Publication number: 20020195860
Abstract: An electric-motor adjustment device for an automobile seat with a direct-current (DC) motor positioned in an electrical circuit whose rotation direction may be reversed, and which motor includes a drive wheel that drives an adjustable drive element for an adjustable seating area, is connected in series with additional electronic components. These additional components include a linear resistor and a current blocking device operating in only one current-flow direction, which are wired together in parallel and then the combination in series with the DC motor. This has the result that, in a first current-flow direction, the current flows through the DC motor to drive it in the first rotation direction, and through the linear resistor. In the opposing second current-flow direction, the current flows through the DC motor to drive it in the second rotation direction, and essentially through the blocking device which does not block the current flow in this direction and which bridges the linear resistor.

  • Publication number: 20020171279
Abstract: In an inclination adjustment lock for partial areas of seats, such as seat backs, a first lock part is firmly attached to a first partial area and a second lock part is attached to a second partial area. Both partial areas are connected together so that they may pivot about a common pivot axis, and the second is mounted to the second partial area so that it may pivot about an axis parallel to the pivot axis, and so that it may be held via a locking pawl in a ratchet position. In the ratchet position, a toothed section of the second lock part engages with an opposing toothed section of the first lock part. The pressure angle of the tooth faces assuming increased loading conditions, such as during a crash, with the toothed section of the second lock part and their complementary opposing toothed section decreases as the separation from the axis 4a increases.
